Chapter 86 - The Prince Who Learned Too Late

The night passed like any other.

Dydra's eyes fluttered open slowly, as though she had been dragged unwillingly from sleep. The pale morning light seeped through the thin curtains, stretching across her room in muted gold streaks. She stared blankly at the ceiling for a few seconds before her brows slowly creased.

Frustration tightened her expression.

With a sharp exhale, she pushed herself upright, letting her legs dangle off the side of the bed. Her fingers moved into her tangled hair, gripping it lightly as though she hoped the slight sting would ground her thoughts.

Another peaceful night.

No screams echoing in her mind. No shadows clawing at her consciousness. No whispers from memories she wished would rot and disappear.

Nothing.

And that bothered her far more than the nightmares ever had.
