I faced him with the same anticipation that had been building inside me. When Apollo had performed Audrey's heart transplant on me, everything unfolded in a blur of emergency and chaos. So many words remained unspoken between us.
Questions flooded my thoughts relentlessly. I knew he must have countless things he wanted to discuss with me as well, but neither of us had found the opportunity until now.
I rose from where I sat. He followed my movement, and together we moved away from the house, beyond Jenna's ability to overhear us. The atmosphere grew more hushed as we increased the distance between ourselves and the modest cabin. When we arrived at an open space just past the edge of the forest, he released a heavy breath.
"How have you been?" he finally inquired.
