Chapter 12 - Breaking the Silence

Ahh "my head", the sheets smell so good, but my head hurts like hell. I drank too much last night. My eyes slowly open, the big room glowing with the morning light. I look around—shit. My head spins as I sit up, stretching my sore body a little. Wait. Where am I? This isn't the hotel room. It's a house.

What the hell? I don't remember anything from last night. My gaze drops to myself—clean, untouched. Then my eyes shift to a big picture hanging on the wall. Kyle and me. The one we took back in school. He still has this picture. That means… I'm in Kyle's house.

I rub my temple, trying to remember. All that comes back is arguing with Kyle and drinking together. Ahh, Dane, you always create a mess. I scold myself.

Suddenly, the door opens. I freeze on the bed, shocked. Kyle steps in with a warm smile. "Good morning."

"Morning," I reply flatly.

"Last night you drank too much. I asked where you live, but you fainted, so I brought you here."
