Dane's POV ---
It had been years since I last set foot in Heaven Garden City—the city where I was born. The car windows reflected the same skyline I used to know, only now it felt unfamiliar, distant.
Daniel sat beside me, eyes fixed on me like he was reading my thoughts.
"What's wrong?" he asked, voice smooth, teasing.
I turned my head sharply toward him. "After threatening me and forcing me here, you still have the nerve to ask that?"
A lazy smile curved on his lips. "Don't look at me with those seductive eyes."
I scoffed and looked away, jaw tightening. Seductive? Seriously? This man really knew how to ruin my mood. My gaze drifted to the ring on my finger — the cold metal glinting in the light. Was it a ring or a new kind of trap?
The car slowed and stopped in front of a luxury hotel. I frowned. "Why are we here? Where's Jimmy? I want to see him."
"He's safe," Daniel replied calmly. "I told you already — if you listen to me like a good boy, I'll take you to him."
