Chapter 28 - 28 (A Foolish Giant Knocks at the Gate)

After the meal, Xiao Chen strolled out of the restaurant with a toothpick dangling from his mouth.

"Brother Chen, see? I didn't lie. The beauties in our company are top tier!" Ding Li trailed behind him like a loyal lackey.

"It's average at best," Xiao Chen replied with a dismissive look. "You know my standards are high. After all, I'm always surrounded by first-rate women."

Hearing this, Ding Li secretly sneered. Didn't this guy nearly drool all over his plate just now, praising that woman's curves and figure like she was a goddess?

"What, you think I'm bluffing?" Xiao Chen suddenly asked. "Tell me, isn't President Su top-notch?"

"Of course!" Ding Li nodded quickly, Su Qing's face appearing in his mind.

"And Assistant Qin?"

"Definitely excellent!" Ding Li nodded again. Though not as stunning as Su Qing, she was still far more beautiful than most, with a killer figure and elegant temperament.

"And President Su's younger sister, Su Xiaomeng?"

"Also excellent!"

"And that pretty girl from HR?"

Images of her pretty face and voluptuous figure flashed in Ding Li's head, and he swallowed hard. "Excellent!"

"Damn, don't look so pervy. She's way out of your league!" Xiao Chen smacked the back of his head.

"Yes, yes, I know—she's Brother Chen's type!" Ding Li quickly nodded.

Xiao Chen rolled his eyes. What nonsense.

"Alright, enough talk. I have a task for you."

"What is it?" Ding Li immediately straightened up.

Xiao Chen glanced around, put an arm around Ding Li's shoulder, and whispered something to him.

"What?!" Ding Li's eyes widened.

"Remember what I told you yesterday in the monitoring room?" Xiao Chen asked.

"Yes, dead angles, blind spots…"

"Right. Head to the electronics market and buy the equipment."

"But Brother Chen, I don't know how to install it!"

"Idiot, then hire someone who does! Just make sure it's done at night and no one notices."

"Oh…" Ding Li nodded, then asked curiously, "Brother Chen, what's this for?"

Xiao Chen's lips curled into a grin. "Fishing."

"Fishing?" Ding Li blinked, even more confused. There's no pond here, what fish is he trying to catch?

"Don't ask questions—just do as I say. If you do this well, you'll earn great credit!"

"Got it. I'll do whatever Brother Chen says!" Ding Li said firmly.

Satisfied, Xiao Chen tossed him a cigarette. "Once you buy the equipment, I'll draw up the layout. We'll install it when the chance comes."

"Okay!"

"Don't waste time."

"I'll take care of it this afternoon!"

Xiao Chen nodded, pulled out a bank card, and handed it over. "There's money in it. Use it for the equipment."

"Don't worry, Brother Chen, I'll handle it." Ding Li accepted the card and left.

Xiao Chen watched him go, narrowing his eyes. This plan had come to him last night—if the enemy discovered the bug, they'd surely react. That would be his chance to catch them. In his mind, the one who planted the bug was more dangerous than whoever sent the threatening letter.

Besides the company, he also planned to secure the villa—better to be safe than sorry.

Spitting out the toothpick, Xiao Chen wandered back to the office, sat down, and started gaming on his computer.

Time passed until a security guard suddenly burst in, panicked.

"Minister Xiao, bad news!"

"What's with the shouting? What happened?" Xiao Chen frowned.

"Someone barged in!"

"What?!" Xiao Chen jumped to his feet.

Before he even reached the front entrance, he heard an angry voice:

"Move aside! If you block me again, I won't be polite!"

"Hold him back! Minister Xiao will be here soon!"

"You said you were hiring security, but now you're refusing me? Don't waste my time!"

"Stop him!"

Bang! Bang! Several guards were thrown back, groaning in pain.

"Hmph! Keep blocking me and I'll knock you all down!"

A towering, muscular young man strode in. His small black vest barely contained his bulging muscles, giving him the presence of a raging beast. Even Xiao Chen couldn't help narrowing his eyes. Damn, where did this walking brown bear come from?

"Hold him back! If he gets inside, we're all done!" one guard shouted.

But the giant only grew angrier, grabbing a guard by the neck as if to throw him again—

"Stop!"

Xiao Chen's voice cut through the chaos. He stepped forward.

"Minister Xiao!" The guards lit up with relief.

Xiao Chen eyed the two-meter-tall man calmly. "Put him down. If you have something to say, say it to me."

"You're their leader?" the man rumbled.

"That's right. I'm the head of security."

The young man studied him for a moment, then dropped the guard. "Good. Then I'll talk to you."

"What do you want?"

"I want to work here as a security guard!"

Xiao Chen nearly laughed out loud. Seriously? He barged in just for that?

"What's so funny? Are you mocking me?"

"No. What's your name?"

"Li Hanhou. But everyone calls me Dahan," the man said sheepishly.

"..." Xiao Chen and the others exchanged odd looks. Dahan? This big guy really does look like a simpleton.

"Who told you we were hiring?"

"Doctor Hua. She said I should try." Li Hanhou grinned. "My mom says anyone who calls me Dahan is a friend—so you're my friend now!"

Xiao Chen chuckled. "Alright, friend. What skills do you have?"

"I can hunt."

"This is a company, not a forest," Xiao Chen replied, amused.

"Then I can guard the door. No one will get in."

"And if someone tries?"

"I'll beat them up!" Li Hanhou clenched his fists.

"Heh, funny. Just now they tried to stop you from entering, didn't they?"

"Yes, but I just wanted to see you and apply."

The guards, no longer angry, shook their heads with wry smiles. The guy was clearly simple-minded.

"Why do you want this job?"

"Doctor Hua said the pay is good."

Xiao Chen sighed. "We're hiring, but not until the day after tomorrow."

"Leader, you said we're friends. Can't you keep me now?"

Xiao Chen smirked. This kid really is naïve.

"Maybe. But you forced your way in and hit my men. Shouldn't you make it right?"

Li Hanhou squatted down, covered his head, and said seriously, "Then let them hit me too. Just not in the face, or my mom will scold me."

The guards burst out laughing.

Xiao Chen thought for a moment, then said, "Forget them. If you can beat me, you get the job."

"Really? You're not lying?"

"Of course. They can testify."

"Okay!" Li Hanhou brightened, but then hesitated. "But if I break you, I can't afford to pay."

"If you break me, you won't need to pay."

"That's good! Take this punch!"

With a roar, Li Hanhou's muscles tightened, and he threw a massive punch at Xiao Chen.

Xiao Chen didn't dodge, meeting it head-on.

Boom!

The clash sent both of them a step back. Xiao Chen's fist ached—this guy's strength was monstrous. Li Hanhou, on the other hand, looked thrilled, roaring as he launched another punch.

This time, Xiao Chen sidestepped, his leg lashing out at Li Hanhou's arm.

Bang!

To his surprise, Li Hanhou reacted quickly, slapping away his kick and grabbing for his ankle in the same motion.
