The Rise of the God of Death
Chapter 41: Reunion
After the beast fell down, the three finally had time to breathe.
They looked at each other, smiles of relief forming as they began to talk about how much they had improved.
*Daren* — Between *Baron* and *Monarch* rank, thanks to his unique skill that makes him stronger the more serious he gets.
*Nil* — Officially at *Overlord* rank.
*Lucy* — Nearly at the *Pinnacle of Overlord*.
Lucy turned to Daren, brushing the dust off her shoulder.
"How's Daimon doing?"
Daren gave a bitter chuckle.
"Even though he's just one rank above us... that guy is still a monster."
Nil laughed. "So why did you hunt that beast in the first place?"
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot." Daren walked to the monster's massive head and started pulling something from it — a sharp, crystalline thorn.
"Daimon told me I need this guy's thorn to make an Elemental weapon."
—
*[Elemental Weapons]*
Weapons forged with special monster parts, capable of storing aura and unleashing Elemental Skills.
—
But just as Daren pulled the thorn free…
*RUMBLE*
The ground shook violently — all three fell to their knees as the sky suddenly darkened.
A massive silhouette appeared above them… wings spread wide, eyes glowing with ancient fury.
*A Dragon... but not like before.*
Lucy gasped, stepping back.
"What is that?!"
Nil's eyes widened.
"Curved horns… a glowing gem on its head… that pressure—"
He trembled.
"That's an *Ancient Dragon*..."
Daren blinked. "Ancient what now?"
Nil answered, voice low.
"A dragon that's survived over 2000 years… it gets stronger by absorbing the power of every creature it's ever devoured."
Daren: "That's scary as hell…"
Lucy: "What should we do?"
Nil forced a grin, his face pale and sweating.
"...Run!"
They all sprinted, but the dragon was too fast.
Nil summoned a massive rock platform, and they all jumped on it.
Daren stood at the rear, unleashing his lightning behind them like rocket fire, pushing the rock faster.
But then — a massive *beam* of energy exploded toward them.
Nil and Lucy quickly turned, combining their power to block it — but even then, they couldn't stop it completely.
The beam struck.
The platform shattered.
They were sent flying.
As the Ancient Dragon charged another attack…
The real battle was just about to begin.
