Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Upgrade again to get animals

Inside the Overworld space.

"Finally, I've accumulated enough energy points."

Energy Points: 20012

Leon converted the last shelf in his backpack into energy points. As the energy points increased, the upgraded ability of the Overworld was unlocked again.

"Upgrade!"

As soon as he finished speaking, his more than 20,000 energy points instantly plummeted, leaving a pitiful 12 points.

The gray misty walls began to dissipate, and new spaces started to appear.

Moo~ Baa~ Cluck~ Oink~

In the new space, some blocky animals appeared. Their bodies looked as if they were pieced together from individual blocks.

"Is it… for animals?"

Leon stared intently at the animals from Minecraft. Their importance was naturally self-evident. Even though they looked a bit 'ugly', they were indeed a player's treasure.

Chickens could provide a large number of Eggs, and Eggs could hatch new chicks. Sheep, on the other hand, could provide Wool, which could not only be used as decorative blocks but also to craft Beds, allowing him to mark new Respawn Points.

As for pigs… well, they could provide pork, but that wasn't important. What was important was the cows.

One cow and one bucket meant infinite milk to drink.

milk could clear all buffs, whether positive or negative. In front of milk, other effects were simply inferior.

Poison, Slowness, Wither, Hunger, Mining Fatigue were all trivial.

"No, I must protect the cows first!"

The other animals didn't matter; they weren't as important as a single cow combined. Leon took out many wooden planks from his backpack and walked to the crafting table to craft wooden fences.

Eric witnessed the appearance of the animals throughout, so he wasn't too alarmed. After all, he had already experienced one upgrade event. Last time, blocky oaks appeared; this time, blocky animals appeared.

As for next time… Could there possibly be blocky people in this world? Laugh.

He walked up to Leon and asked, "Yang, are these animals aggressive?"

This was his real concern. As for where these animals came from or where they were going, that was not something he needed to consider. Without guessing, he knew these animals had an intricate connection with Leon.

Taking out the crafted wooden fences, Leon heard Eric's concern and said with a smile, "Don't worry, these animals are not aggressive. Even if You attack them, they won't fight back."

Of course, this was only limited to vanilla Minecraft. You never knew what kind of strange creatures might appear in mods.

He walked up to the animals. Perhaps seeing his arrival, the cow, which had been leisurely grazing on the grass, looked up at him.

Its rectangular eyes and square black pupils stared at him with 'wisdom'.

Leon couldn't help but let out a snort of laughter: "Why do they look even more idiotic than their in-game counterparts? Whatever, as long as they can produce milk!"

After fencing the cow, Leon took an empty iron bucket from his backpack, aimed it at the cow's body, and silently willed to milk it. Instantly, milky white liquid appeared in the previously empty iron bucket.

Seeing this, Leon's face broke into a happy smile.

"Last time the upgrade brought oak trees, this time it brought animals. So, next time, will it be monsters?"

He glanced at the energy points required for the next upgrade.

"Forty thousand?! Is it increasing exponentially? It can't really be that bad, can it?"

First time 10,000, second time 20,000, third time 40,000. If the next one was 60,000, it would be fine, but if it jumped to 80,000, then things would be serious.

At that point, even if he could create clones, he wouldn't be able to keep up with such a rapidly increasing upgrade requirement.

"I can't rely solely on digging and scavenging for energy points…"

Suddenly, a light bulb went off in Leon's mind: 'I can utilize the Overworld's advantage of connecting various worlds to become a middleman. The speed at which a group of people collects energy will definitely be much faster than me collecting it alone.'

Recalling almond water, Leon knew that there must be some things in various worlds that contained a large amount of energy points.

At least it would be more valuable than the concrete walls in the Backrooms. Having figured all this out, Leon finally saw hope for rapid upgrading.

However, his current supply of materials was too limited. He had to find a way to get some inventory first.

For example, firearms, ammunition, medicine, and food needed in the Backrooms—he had to find a way to get some of those.

"The road must be walked one step at a time, no need to rush!"

He turned and waved at Eric, saying with a kind and amiable expression, "Eric, come here and try this milk. How does it taste?"

Eric, the guinea pig, walked forward, puzzled. He looked at the full bucket of milk in Leon's hand and asked incredulously, "Yang, is this milk from that cow?"

"Yes, this is good stuff. It can eliminate almost all negative statuses. It's much more potent than that almond water. How does it taste?"

"Eliminate negative statuses?"

Eric, who didn't play games much, felt completely confused, but out of trust in Leon, he still reached out and took the milk bucket. However, looking at the full bucket of milk, a conflicted expression appeared on his face:

"Do I have to drink it all?"

"Drink as much as You can…"

Carefully observing Eric's condition, he saw him pick up the milk bucket and take just two or three sips before the full bucket of milk disappeared.

"How do You feel?"

Eric smacked his lips, recalled for a moment, and said, "Very pure, very smooth!"

Leon: "…"

"I meant how You feel, not the taste."

"Nothing… No, I was a bit hungry just now, but now I don't feel it anymore…"

Touching his still flat abdomen, Eric said very seriously.

Leon nodded slightly. Eric wasn't poisoned, injured, or infected, so it was normal for him not to feel anything.

"milk can eliminate the hunger effect, but this is only temporary. You still need to eat when it's time to eat."

He took out some food he bought from the Conan world from his backpack and handed it to Eric.

Just then, the sound of a door opening echoed.

Leon and Eric both turned their heads towards the direction of the sound. A new wooden door appeared on the gray misty wall.

A girl with shoulder-length brown hair stood timidly behind the wooden door. Seeing Leon and Eric staring intently at her, she, who was already a bit timid, almost burst into tears.

"I'm sorry… I… I interrupted."

After saying that, she bowed deeply. Leon glanced at Eric and asked, "Does this place look like a kindergarten?"

He originally thought Conan was small enough, but this little girl who appeared looked even younger than Conan. She had a metal whistle hanging around her neck, which she hadn't taken off even while wearing pajamas.

Leon gently comforted her, "Little friend, don't be scared. We are not bad people. Are You lost?"

The little girl, in a childish voice mixed with a hint of a sob, said, "I want to find my brother, he's missing."

(I've given You hints, guess.)
