Chapter 6 - Yori and the Birds

As the six returned to the village, everything seemed perfectly calm. No freaks appeared, nothing happened. It seemed like they were waiting for something.

Nashw: Don't you think everything is—...

Kayha: Calm? Braxie scared all the freaks in the forest when she screamed.

Braxie laughing: I wish it were that simple, but it really is very strange. Maybe Brodka's depression is what drove them away.

Brodka sarcastic: Ha-Ha-Ha...

Zo: Seriously, we've been walking for six hours and literally nothing has happened...

Huna: Beginner's luck?

Everyone laughed and continued their calm walk to the village, until they finally arrived.

Guard #1: They came back quickly, it hasn't even been a week—

Huna interrupting: HEEEEY!

At that moment, Huna runs and hugs Guard #1.

Huna: I was so scared when I saw them...

Concerned Guard #1: DID YOU SEE FREAKS? IS EVERYONE OKAY?

Kayha: Relax, everything's fine.

Guard #1: Oh, hi Kayha, did you come for a stop?

Nashw: Wait, so you're the one who warned the Vigilantes?

Kayha: Yeah, he and I met a while ago, he asked me to watch you until you got back.

Huna still hasn't let go of Guard #1; she sees him as a father figure...

Depressed Brodka: Uh... are we going to be here long? I want to go to the boat so I can sleep and wake up in Pulanio, I hate traveling...

Guard #2: Are you going to Pulanio? I was warned it's worse there than here.

Nashw: We're going too. We came to stay for a few days to say goodbye and rest, then we'll leave.

Indignant Guard #1: WHAT? NO!

Huna: Trust us, we're going to save the world!

Indignant Guard #1: THIS STUPIDITY AGAIN, KAYHA? AND TO MAKE IT WORSE, YOU WANT TO KILL ALL THESE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE WHAT HAPPENED—

Huna runs crying to the tent, unable to handle the pressure of everything again.

Kayha: ...

Angry Braxie: HEY, WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST IS IN THE PAST AND NOBODY IS TO BLAME FOR ANYTHING, WE'RE ALL TRYING TO SOLVE EVERYTHING!

Sad Guard #1: And for what? Why do you have to die for this world? It's all over, forget it, stay here.

Kayha: We've been blessed with marks, let's use our powers to try something.

Guard #1: And who can guarantee that killing all the freaks will do any good?

Kayha: No one...

Guard #1: I can't take this anymore. Please go to your tents (speaks to Nashw and Zo) and you three can stay here too if you want. Then do whatever you want, I give up...

Kayha: ...

Everyone headed toward the tent until they were interrupted.

Yori: NAAAAAAASHW!!!

Nashw: YOOOOORI!

They both hugged each other.

Yori crying with joy: I THOUGHT I WOULDN'T SEE YOU AGAIN, NASHW...

Nashw: About that, we're leaving the country-

Yori: WHAT? WHY? WHY LEAVE HERE?

Nashw: We going on a mission with the Vigilantes.

Yori faints, confused. Nashw carries him to the tent, and inside they explain everything to him.

Yori: My head can't handle so much information, so... basically, there are powerful, marked weapons, and you're going after them?

Braxie: In short, yes.

Yori: And for what?

Kayha: For many reasons, but personally, I want all humans to be well-armed so we can kill all the freaks in this world, so we can live normally without fear.

Yori: That would be amazing, I'll go with you too—

Kayha: NO!

*Yori starts crying and runs out into the street.*

Nashw: Was it necessary to yell at him? Wait, Yori—

*Nashw goes after him*

Kayha: Was it necessary for him to react like that?

Zo, slapping his forehead: Oh... I should have warned him. He's apparently autistic. No one knows exactly what it is, but it seems like it. Certain things make him run away. Yelling at him and looking at him upset is something you can never do, and he only stops when Nashw calms him down.

Kayha: I'll talk to him—

Zo interrupting: Better not, there's no point, he only listens to Nashw when he's like that.

Outside, near a bird's nest, Yori is frightened, then Nashw appears.

Nashw: They're asking what happened.

Since arriving in the village after the Great Impact, Nashw has always been alone, talking to plants and animals in general. Besides Zo and Huna, they met even before arriving in the village and have become close brothers to this day.

Yori has always been left out because the villagers didn't know how to deal with him, but Nashw, Huna, and Zo have grown closer to him, unlike almost all the other children in the village.

Yori had a great bond with Nashw because Yori has a hyperfocus on birds, and Nashw talks to them too.

Yori: At least the birds don't yell at me.

Nashw: Weeeeell... About that, I can make you hear them too; I can finally use powers.

Yori: SERIOUSLY? THAT'S AMAZING! I WANT TO HEAR YOU! (Talking to a bird)

Nashw passes his hand over the nest, and the birds there begin to talk so that Yori can hear them too.

Birds: What happened, Yori?

Yori, amazed: OHHHHH THEY'RE TALKING, THEY'RE TALKING, NASHW!!!

Nashw bursts out laughing while Yori cries with joy.

They both talk to the birds and return to the tent after Yori calms down.

Kayha: Sorry, Yori, I didn't know—

Yori: It's okay, Nashw told me you're good people too, everything's fine...

They all went to dinner together in the tent.

Nashw: Zo, I want carrots.

Zo: Go and get them...

Yori: Nashw, can you make the food talk too?

Everyone was shocked, not knowing whether to laugh or if he could actually make the food talk.

Nashw: AHHHHHHHHH!

Nothing happened...

Nashw: Apparently not... hehe

Everyone laughed and continued dinner. Soon after, they all slept together in the same tent; the next day would be the big goodbye...
