Chapter 7 - Dwayne

By the time they got to the Starbucks, he was vibrating. Blaine had failed to contact her, but he did get a hold of Brann, her older brother, who assured him that he would find a way to let his sister Know that they were looking for her. Dwayne pulled the door open and held it for his older brother.

"You know she has probably known that we've been looking for her this whole time." He grumbled, following Blaine into the shop. The rich smell of coffee made his mouth water the moment it hit his sinuses.

"Probably." Blaine replied, eyes moving over the café.

"I think I hate her." Dwayne grumbled. "Will I hate her?"

"Why are you asking me?" Blaine said, waving over to Farin and Ollie who were seated by the fireplace. They waved back, Ollie smiling wide and Farin looking less than ecstatic.

"You're dating her sister." Dwayne supplied, "You know her."

"Doesn't mean I know how you'll take to her." Blaine said, "She's weird, and all knowing, and she's just good at things. I don't know how else to explain it." Dwayne watched him as they situated themselves between Farin and Ollie. "And, she's super adorable." Blaine said.

Dwayne just grumbled. "I'll take your word for it."

Ollie leaned over and pressed a peck to Dwayne's cheek. "Who's adorable?" he asked and Dwayne was about to answer when Beau appeared from between two bookshelves. He looked at Dwayne and Blaine, looking a bit like a deer caught in the headlights. He glanced back over his shoulder.

"Dwayne. Blaine. Hey." He said, a little loudly before coming over to sit with them. "What's going on?"

Dwayne, leaned back in the chair he was sitting in. He crossed his arms over his chest. "We should wait until Kieran gets here." He said, "Where has he gone?"

Beau shrugged, "I don't know. He was looking at books."

"Did you happen to see him?" Farin said, with a tone that made Dwayne suspect that the two had argued over this possibly earlier.

Beau narrowed his eyes at the blonde, his mouth opening to snap back something Dwayne was certain would spark a fight, but Kieran's voice cut across whatever it was that Beau was saying and Dwayne looked up as he came up from behind Farin. The first thing Dwayne noticed was the strange way Kieran was holding his head. Ducked slightly so that it wasn't too noticeable that he didn't want his face seen, and then he noticed the slight fading redness around Kieran's eyes.

Dwayne looked sharply at Beau who shook his head slightly, claiming innocence. Dwayne wished he could have believed his friend wholly but he didn't. He didn't say anything either. He just darted his eyes between the two boys, narrowing them at Beau as Kieran found his place among them.

"I heard you were looking for me." Came a feminine voice from behind Dwayne. He turned and saw her.

Her expression was passive. Her arms were crossed, her weight placed on her left leg, her hip jutting out. She reminded him of the bossy, pushy side of Ollie that people rarely saw. He had to remind himself that that was probably one of the strangest things he could ever say about her, but it was very true. It made her so much more intimidating than it probably should have.

Blaine nodded and said, "We have a proposition and a plan. If you'd like to be part of it."

"What's the proposition?"

"Well, maybe we could go over the plan first - "

"What's the proposition?" She repeated, "I'm not interested in your plan as of yet."

Dwayne watched as his brother stumbled over the words to explain it to her. He was flustered and Dwayne gave mad props to her. Barely five foot, and probably not even breaking 130 pounds and she still managed to make someone as calm and collected as Blaine mess up over his tongue. Finally giving up on a formal explanation, he sighed and dropped his arms to his sides.

"We both know you're familiar with The Hobbit."

"Understatement, but yes." She said, "All too well."

"Well," Blaine paused, looking at Dwayne. He saw the hesitation in his eyes and gave his brother a firm nod.

"We need a burglar."

She smiled a terrifyingly sweet smile, uncrossing her arms and stepping closer. "Now," She began, placing her hands on the back of Beau's chair. He leaned back to smile up at her. "I'm interested."

Dwayne sighed and looked up at the ceiling. This was going to be one adventurous summer, and he found himself feeling a twinge of excitement at the thought.
