I offered her easy tasks because I'd already made up my mind about her.
"I won't tolerate any compromises on quality; make sure we get premium wool, or your contract will be cancelled. This is your last chance," I told the product manager as I stood up and closed the meeting.
My production and quality team did the same; they weren't thrilled with the quality of the wool last month, so I had to take strict measures.
"You won't have any more complaints. My apologies for last month's wool." Their product manager turned pale again. He had been on edge the entire meeting.
I nodded to him and left the conference room.

I took the elevator to my floor, where only a few people were allowed. My bodyguard, Olif, followed me and ran his hand over the sensor.
When the elevator dinged, I got out, and Olif followed. Miranda waited impatiently, pacing the marble floor. There were lines on her forehead that she tried to hide as soon as her gaze fell on me.
"Sir?" she said respectfully, but it sounded like a question, like she wanted me to clarify.
"…Yes!" I kept walking, and she ran beside me. I trusted Miranda and her judgment; she had been with me from the beginning.
She hesitated. "....New girl..."
"What about her?" I asked, hiding any interest that might have slipped from my lips.
"She was hired? I haven't seen her..." she said, weighing her words carefully.
I kept walking quickly, my left hand in my pants pocket, as we left my office. I turned and looked at her impassively.
"She's in my office and will be sent to you shortly. Show her around and make sure she understands all aspects of her position." I paused and she blinked knowingly.
"Be patient, I'll I hope you teach her well. Any mistakes on her part, and you too will be held accountable."
Her mouth widened as the shock of my words registered with her. Without waiting for her answer, I pushed the door open and walked into my office, leaving Miranda and Olipha there.
The door slammed behind me as I searched for Zara, but could not find her.
My chair was turned towards the window. Walking quickly to it, I looked out, tilting my head forward. To my great delight, Zara was fast asleep in it, as if she had no care in the world.
I stood there for a minute, unable to believe my eyes, as she had fallen asleep trying to get a job.
Irritation and surprise - two very contradictory emotions she evoked in me.
Don't people get very nervous, especially around someone like me?
Her ample chest rose and fell; she was ample in all the right places.
Shaking my head, I pulled out my phone. I have cameras in my office, it would be interesting to see her reaction to my contract and what made her feel so relaxed that she fell asleep.
Didn't she get enough sleep?
Without waking her, I pulled up the camera footage and began to watch what she had been doing in my absence.
Of course, she took my place when I left the office. I expected her to do so, and I expected nothing less.
I saw her snort and roll her eyes as she read my rules. I had to purse my lips as she jumped up from her seat, reading the last of her duties, dropping the file in the process.
I knew this would piss her off. Surprisingly, she took it well, thought about it for a few minutes, and then picked up my favorite pen and signed the contract.
A lightness settled in my heart, a lightness of satisfaction.
She would be mine. She didn't think long before signing the papers, indicating that she agreed to the plan.
Finally, she relaxed in my chair. Turning around, she blocked the camera's view and must have dozed off, because I didn't see any movement after that.
I wondered what amount she had indicated. Closing the camera footage, I picked up the file and quietly turned the pages where she had written the amount.
A small smile appeared on my face when I saw this. She had not disappointed me by offering a cheap price, and I liked it.
It was time to wake her up and enjoy the expression on her face, which she was about to offer while I hovered next to her.
I silently approached her sleeping form again and said firmly.
"Zara!"
