"Sweetheart, you're the most harmless creature I've ever seen." The one with the hedgehog chuckled.
"This is going to be fun." Nova chuckled.
The one with the hedgehog made his first mistake. He reached for my hand, a wide grin on his face.
They were both much taller than I, but they were too close. I could easily get in a few good punches. Besides, humans were much more fragile than wolves.
I grabbed the guy who was reaching for me by the arm and yanked him forward, then punched him hard in the forehead.
"No means no." I shrugged, grinning widely at the giggling bouncer.
"Tell him, Zara!" Nova giggled.
The brown-haired guy paused for a moment, clearly considering whether to fight the girl. I guess he responded by lunging forward.
"Stupid human." Nova shook her head.
I let my knee fly up just as the brown-haired man lunged forward, catching my kneecap in his sensitive spots. After the blow, I threw my hand forward and elbowed him in the back, causing him to be thrown against the brick wall.
The guy with the short hair came to his senses and raised his fist to punch me, but I was much faster. Aiming for his already broken nose, I lowered my fist and hit him in the throat.
After a rather amusing coughing fit, the guy with the short hair helped his friend up and the two of them stumbled away.
"Well, that was fun." I shrugged, waved one last time at the bouncer, and headed for the door.
"I hope you kick that bad habit," I yelled, closing the door behind me.
The loud music pounded my ears, accompanied by pulsating purple and green lights. The fresh air cleared my head. Nova was excited about scaring the two guys away, and was chattering in my head like crazy.
"Humans are so fragile." Nova rolled her eyes. "You didn't even need my help."
"You're such a loser." I grinned and laughed as Nova growled her agreement.
I'd only been in the club for fifteen seconds before I slammed into a solid body. I stumbled back, my heart fluttering in my chest as the scent caught my nose. Goddess only knew how I could detect his distinct scent in the loud club, but here I was.
I looked at Alpha Kane, stunned, my stomach clenching as a vivid image of him and Cassie flashed through my mind.
"Will you trouble already, Zara?" Alpha Kane's dark eyebrow rose seductively.
Alpha Kane's voice rang out over the music, his words too clear to focus on. I couldn't decide which I liked better. Alpha Kane in sports clothes or Alpha Kane in a business suit. He wore black pants that hugged him in just the right places.
A black button-down shirt hugged his chiseled chest, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. My gaze slid over his muscular forearms, tracing the veins that stood out.
"Eavesdropping?" I smirked, trying to contain my lingering jealousy. Instead, it only made me want to challenge Alpha Kane even more.
"I learned that if there's trouble within five miles, you'll find it." Alpha Kane pursed his lips, his thick brow still raised.
"What can I say?" I shrugged. "It's talent."
Alpha Kane's honeyed gaze lingered on my face. A deep smirk appeared on me as his gaze slid over my body. Kane's willpower was cracking, his eyes darkening as his gaze slid over my body for just a moment, finally meeting my contented gaze.
"His wolf wants to come out and play," Nova muttered, a satisfied smirk spreading across her face.
"Then let's seduce him," I smirked back.
Alpha Kane froze as I closed the distance between us. His dark eyes lingered on me, wary and careful. I slowly raised my hand, playing with the collar of his shirt.
"What's your wolf's name?" I smirked, looking up at him from under my lashes.
Kane was silent for a few moments, his dark eyes glittering as they stared straight into mine.
"Grim," was all he said, his lips moving softly.
"Grim," I repeated the name slowly, smiling at Kane and biting my bottom lip. "Too bad he can't come out and play."
Alpha Kane's irises melted into his pupils as Grim tried to get closer. Kane's lips pressed into a thin line, anger and some other emotion burning in his eyes.
"Looks like Grim wants to come out and have fun," Nova giggled.
I removed my hand from Kane's shirt collar and gave him one last shy smile, stepping aside to walk past him.
He pulled his hand away abruptly, gripping my wrist tightly, spinning me around, and pulling me into his arms.
"You think all these people are protecting you, but they're not," Alpha Kane growled slowly. "Try something like that again and I'll take you for myself."
I couldn't help the excitement that washed over me, hell, I was practically shaking from it. His harsh words made the sensitive spot between my legs instantly sweat, and my whole body filled with anticipation.
"Apologize, Alpha," I spoke slowly and seductively, walking past, brushing him towards the bar.
I could feel his burning gaze on me the entire time.
I left Alpha Kane in the dust as I headed back towards the bar. I swayed my hips slightly, secretly hoping he would follow me.
I allowed myself to glance back at where Alpha Kane stood as I approached the bar. A frown froze on my face when I didn't see him anywhere, but I pushed it away.
