I slowly turned back to Maya, my voice barely above a whisper as I asked; "How do you know her?"

She scoffed, rolling her eyes with a kind of irritation that I've never seen her exude. Now, it almost seemed as if she disliked Chalice a lot more than I did, and that was funny. She said; "We met once when I went to shop for some bags and she was an absolute bitch. I would have given her a blue eye if she didn't look so much like you."

Her response made me laugh despite myself. I snorted. "Don't do that!"

"Girl, just scolding her that day made me feel bad. It felt as though I was scolding you!"

I chuckled so much that tears filled the corners of my eyes. But after that, we managed to forget all about Chalice and the triplets who were presently glaring holes into the back of my skull.

We ordered our food amidst chatter and we had just finished and were munching into our desserts when suddenly, a familiar sugary vanilla scent filled my nostrils. I rolled my eyes.
