Chapter 104 - The difference in our dreams.

I hate to say this but I didn't return to the restaurant. I didn't go back for Maya because for some reason, the longer I stayed away from the restaurant, the stronger my resolution to not be in any form of close relationship with Gavin became.

About forty-five minutes after I left, Maya texted to say she was taking an Uber home, but I didn't believe her. I also didn't try to push it, so I went back home and buried myself in my work.

About two hours into my job with rest, I finally got a call from an unsaved number. Cautiously, I picked it up, brought the phone to my ear and waited.

The first time this happened, it turned out to be my mother on the phone, and right now, I wasn't ready for new surprises.

"Leilani?" A familiar feminine voice called out softly, sounding almost like they were whispering, and as soon as I heard it, I stilled. My hand clutching my phone froze, and for some reason, my heart began to frantically beat against my chest.
