Chapter 7 - 007: The First Yokai Friend

"Do you want to drink my blood?"

As Lin's words fell, Akashiya Moka's eyes widened.

The astonishment on her face was hard to hide.

Although surprised by Lin's suggestion, she couldn't help but feel a stir of temptation.

Her vampiric thirst grew stronger.

Her reason was still struggling to suppress this instinctual desire.

It made her feel rather uncomfortable.

"Why?"

Akashiya Moka looked at Lin, puzzled.

Letting a vampire drink one's blood.

From her understanding of humans, this was clearly hard to comprehend.

"The reason is simple. I want to be friends with you."

Lin explained with a sincere smile:

"We haven't known each other long, but I feel like I can trust you."

"Besides, you look like you're in a lot of discomfort right now."

"If drinking a little blood will make you feel better, Moka, then I don't see any problem with it."

He paused here.

Then he continued in a joking tone, "As long as you don't drink me dry."

"Friends..."

Akashiya Moka stared blankly at Lin, her eyes trembling slightly.

'I want to be friends with you.'

The words seemed to echo endlessly in her ears.

For three whole years, she had hidden her identity while attending a human middle school.

Yet, she hadn't made a single true human friend.

So she had always been alone.

She hated it, and had even begun to resent humans.

She had already planned to return to a school founded by yokai.

There were two reasons she didn't feel repulsed by Lin, a human.

One was that Lin didn't seem to hate yokai.

The other was the influence of her body's desire for his blood.

Agreeing to walk with him just now was also because she had felt the urge to get to know him better.

She never expected that Lin would actually want to be her friend.

This filled her with an indescribable sense of joy and surprise.

It even temporarily suppressed her craving for Lin's blood.

Her feelings at this moment were complicated.

Various emotions were tangled together like a ball of yarn.

For a moment, she didn't know how to react.

She just stared at Lin, her eyes seemingly shining.

The corners of her lips curved up gently, a smile she didn't even notice herself blooming like a flower on her delicate face.

Taking in the changes in Akashiya Moka's expression, the smile on Lin's face brightened.

Their eyes met.

A peculiar atmosphere quietly began to permeate the air around them.

"Go on, I don't mind."

Lin smiled slightly, tilted his head to the right, and gently patted his exposed neck twice with his left hand.

"Lin..."

At his words, Akashiya Moka came back to her senses, her bright, jade-green eyes gradually tinged with a wine-red hue.

Her aura faintly changed.

It was as if she had suddenly become a different person.

Without another word, she lunged forward, throwing herself at Lin and wrapping her arms around his neck.

Lin leaned over and lowered his head slightly.

Akashiya Moka opened her crimson lips, revealing slowly lengthening fangs, and bit down without hesitation.

*Chuuu~*

Lin narrowed his eyes slightly.

He only felt a slight tickle on his neck, with no pain at all.

He could clearly perceive his blood, rich with Aura, being rapidly drawn out by Akashiya Moka.

At the same time, he saw that much of Akashiya Moka's pink hair was turning silver-white.

As if she'd gotten highlights.

"This is..."

This made him narrow his eyes slightly.

Could it be that the Akashiya Moka right now was in a peculiar state where her outer and inner personalities coexisted?

That didn't seem quite right.

About ten seconds later.

Akashiya Moka blinked.

Her red-tinged green eyes returned to normal, and the silver-white strands of hair reverted to pink in an instant.

"Ah!"

A startled cry rang out.

Akashiya Moka quickly let go, stepping back two paces with a blushing face.

She looked rather flustered.

Her gaze flickered, her eyes drifting to Lin from time to time.

Whenever their eyes met, she could feel her heart pounding.

It felt as if a little deer was ramming around inside her chest.

Seeing this, Lin couldn't help but smile, touching the spot on his neck where Akashiya Moka had bitten him.

There wasn't a single mark.

Although about five hundred milliliters of blood had been taken, Lin didn't feel the slightest bit of discomfort.

Even another five hundred wouldn't have been a problem.

The main thing was that the Aura in his body had decreased by about one percent.

But it would recover quickly.

Suppressing these thoughts, Lin looked at Akashiya Moka.

He smiled and said:

"Moka, we should be friends now, right? After all, you've already drunk my blood."

"Are you serious?"

Akashiya Moka paused, looking at Lin with a surprised expression,

She couldn't help but seek confirmation.

Her heart was filled with both joy and apprehension.

"Of course, I'm serious."

Lin nodded.

Then he smiled again and added, "If you don't want to be friends with me, just pretend I never said anything."

"No, I want to!"

As if worried Lin would misunderstand, Akashiya Moka quickly explained:

"I was just a little worried you'd mind my identity."

"I spent three years in a human school, and the other humans don't even believe yokai are real."

"They even dislike discussing the topic of yokai."

"I see."

Lin's face showed understanding.

He then said with a smile, "Don't worry, I'm not like other people. I don't mind that you're a yokai."

"If I did mind, I wouldn't have offered you my blood."

"So then, to my first yokai friend, it's a pleasure to meet you."

He said, extending his right hand.

He smiled at Akashiya Moka.

"It's a pleasure..."

Akashiya Moka's eyes were filled with joy, her smile blooming like a flower as she extended her soft right hand to shake Lin's.

I finally have a friend.

My first human friend, at that.

Their right hands clasped, their eyes met.

Looking at Lin, besides joy, a subtle emotion quietly began to stir in Akashiya Moka's heart.

After receiving the prompt from the Codex of All Things, the curve of Lin's lips couldn't help but lift a little higher.

The way to light up the codex was to establish some kind of relationship with the other party.

Friendly or hostile.

Establishing a friendly relationship required forming bonds such as friends, lovers, or family with the other person.

Any of them would do.

For example, the most basic friendship required both parties to genuinely see the other as a friend.

As long as it was successfully established, the codex would light up automatically.

As for a hostile relationship.

To put it simply, enemies.

It would be established automatically as soon as someone bore malice toward Lin.

For targets in a hostile relationship, there were two ways to light up their entry in the codex.

One was to convert the relationship to a friendly one.

The other was to eliminate the target.

Currently, Lin had established friendships with both Satania and Akashiya Moka, easily lighting up their entries.

He didn't rush to check the codex.

Lin glanced at their still-clasped right hands, looked at Akashiya Moka, and said with a slight smile:

"Moka, I don't mind, but are you planning to keep holding my hand like this?"

He could feel a slight pressure from Akashiya Moka's right hand, giving the impression that she didn't want to let go.
