"What's up?"
Lala settled onto the sofa with Lin, then blinked her large eyes, looking at him with curiosity.
"The thing I didn't finish saying earlier."
Lin smiled, then spoke seriously.
"Lala, I actually already have a fiancée. In fact, more than one."
"Eh?!"
Lala froze for a moment.
Then, with an expression of complete indifference, she smiled at Lin.
"In that case, adding one more won't hurt. As long as I like you, Lin, and you like me, that's all that matters."
Hearing Lala's answer, Lin couldn't help but raise an eyebrow slightly.
He wasn't too surprised. After all, he knew a bit about Lala and understood her personality well.
"Alright, I understand."
Lin nodded with a smile.
Then, with a hint of curiosity, he asked, "By the way, Lala, why did you suddenly decide to make me your fiancé? We've only just met."
"About that…"
Lala's cheeks flushed slightly.
She smiled. "Because I suddenly realized I've fallen for you, so I chose you, Lin."
"It's that simple?"
Lin was skeptical.
Lala nodded. "Yup, it's just that simple."
As she spoke, she recalled something else, adding shyly:
"Besides, Lin, you said that a girl's body should only be seen by her future partner, and you've already seen mine."
"Plus, your hand touched my chest, which completes the formal engagement ritual of Planet Deviluke."
"So, you became my fiancé."
"I'm really happy to be your fiancée now."
As her voice trailed off, Lala, cheeks still slightly flushed, gave Lin a brilliant and beautiful smile.
Her joy was infectious.
Hearing this, Lin looked at her, smiled, and said, "I understand. Knowing you're my fiancée makes me very happy too, Lala."
"Hehe…"
Lala's smile became even more radiant upon hearing Lin's words.
She scooted a bit closer.
Then, she reached out, hugging Lin's right arm tightly to her chest. The soft sensation pressed against his arm.
Looking up at Lin, she chuckled softly.
"Actually, I haven't been this happy in a long time."
"Because my father keeps wanting to find a successor, he's always trying to set me up on blind dates."
"Being born into a royal family is truly tiring. It's always 'for the sake of the royal family' or 'you're the First Princess of the Galaxy' and all that."
"They constantly use my father's words to pressure me."
"No one listens to what I have to say, and no one understands how I feel."
As she spoke, the smile on Lala's face faded a little. She lowered her head slightly, her tone becoming somewhat subdued.
"That's not true, Lady Lala," Peke couldn't help but chime in to comfort her.
"Yeah, I suppose so."
Hearing Peke's comforting words, Lala looked at the Peke badge at her waist and smiled. "At least you understand me, Peke."
Then she looked at Lin, smiling happily.
"That's why I'm so glad I met you after coming to Earth, Lin."
"Even though we just met, you were willing to protect me, and you're willing to listen to me and understand me."
"Since my father keeps insisting I find a fiancé, why shouldn't I find someone I actually like?"
Lin blinked and smiled.
"Aren't you afraid I'm just faking all of this, Lala?"
"Nope."
Lala shook her head gently.
"Why?"
Lin was a bit curious.
Lala grinned.
"Because I have a feeling. I feel like you aren't faking it, Lin, so I'm not afraid."
"A feeling, huh…"
Lin couldn't help but smile.
Then he asked with a grin, "According to what you said, Lala, since I've become your fiancé now…"
"Does that count me as an heir to Planet Deviluke?"
"Well…"
Lala frowned slightly, a pensive look crossing her face.
"I guess you count as half of one."
She was clearly a bit unsure herself. She recalled her father saying that her future fiancé would become the heir to the Deviluke throne, but it still required his acknowledgment. After all, the Deviluke royal family ruled almost the entire galaxy. You couldn't just pick anyone to be the heir to the throne.
Thus, Lin currently existed in a state between being an heir and not.
Lala looked at Lin curiously again.
"Lin, do you want to be the heir and become the King of the Galaxy?"
Looking at Lala, Lin raised an eyebrow slightly.
"King of the Galaxy, huh? That sounds incredibly tempting."
"But it feels like it would be too exhausting."
"Too exhausting…" Lala blinked, looking thoughtful.
Lin nodded with a smile. "Exactly. You have to deal with all kinds of government affairs every day and constantly watch out for people causing trouble."
"I think the reason your father keeps looking for an heir is that he's tired of being King, and wants to find someone to take over for him."
"That actually sounds about right…"
Hearing Lin say this, Lala couldn't help but fall into thought, sensing the truth might indeed be as he described.
"Alright, let's not talk about this for now."
Lin smiled and added, "It's getting late. We should head back to our rooms and sleep."
"Okay!"
A glint of anticipation and shyness flashed in Lala's eyes as she nodded with a smile.
Lin opened the Mist Gate.
"What is this?"
Seeing the Mist Gate suddenly appear, Lala immediately became curious.
Lin explained, "This is the Mist Gate. It leads to the Mirage Realm, a subspace world completely under my control."
"A world! What kind of world is it?"
Lala became even more curious.
Lin smiled.
"It's an independent world born from a special ability I possess."
"Unlike a planet, it's a supercontinent. When it fully grows, it'll be about the size of a hundred Earths."
"Wow, that's amazing!"
Lala was somewhat surprised to hear this; she had never heard of such an ability before.
Peke, who had refrained from interrupting the two until now, finally couldn't hold back.
"To think such an ability exists… Lord Lin, what exactly are you? Earthlings seem to be quite weak, don't they?"
"Lin, I want to know too!"
Lala looked at Lin with a face full of curiosity.
Lin gave a humble smile.
"Me? I'm just an ordinary Earthling with a few special abilities."
"My strength is just a tiny bit higher than other Earthlings."
As he spoke, he held out his right hand, using his thumb and index finger to make a gesture indicating a "tiny bit."
"So that's how it is."
Hearing Lin's explanation, Lala nodded as if realizing the truth; she believed him completely.
Peke, on the other hand, almost believed Lin's explanation. She wasn't as naive as Lala, but she didn't say anything either.
"Let's go, time to head in."
Without dwelling on the topic, Lin and Lala entered the Mirage Realm. He took her to the Homestead One cabin, letting her choose one of the empty rooms as her own.
Lala was a bit disappointed by this; she had thought she would be sleeping with Lin.
Tohru and the others didn't wake up. Because this was Lin's world, they slept particularly soundly, without any concerns for their safety.
While Lala went to the bathroom to take a shower, Lin opened the Codex of All Things with anticipation.
