Inside the Domain Expansion: Kingship Territory.
Under the Golden General's attacks, Zastin was caught in a stalemate.
Although he possessed spatial abilities and could dodge attacks with relative ease, he could make no headway against the Golden General. The battle quickly devolved into a stalemate.
Meanwhile, his two subordinates had already been subdued by the Silver General bare-handed in a few swift moves, now clutched in its grasp. No matter how they struggled, they couldn't break free from the Silver General's powerful grip.
"It's time to end this."
Having roughly gauged Zastin's strength level by observing the fight, Lin had no further desire to toy with them.
The Golden General's speed surged dramatically. It turned into a golden stream of light, instantly appearing at Zastin's side. A whip kick lashed out at him.
Zastin wanted to use his spatial ability to dodge, but this time he discovered that his spatial ability was ineffective. Previously, Lin had merely chosen not to restrict his spatial manipulation.
Although the sudden inability to deploy his spatial ability startled Zastin, he reacted instinctively. He brought the Photon Sword up to block.
The next moment, the Golden General's whip kick slammed into the blade with a dull thwack, sending a milky-white sonic boom wave surging outwards. A localized vacuum instantly formed.
Zastin was sent flying backward like a soccer ball, slamming ruthlessly into the nearly invisible spatial barrier.
"Cough..."
Zastin frowned tightly, quickly scrambling to his feet. He coughed, his sword-wielding right hand trembling slightly. Even with his superhuman physical fitness, armor protection, and the Photon Sword directly deflecting the attack, he still felt quite uncomfortable. His sword-hand, especially, felt numb, and the web of his thumb and index finger was likely torn.
Seeing this scene, Lala's gaze flickered slightly as she looked toward Lin. Sensing her gaze, Lin met her eyes and offered a smile.
Seeing Lin's smile, Lala seemed to understand something. Any worry she felt was fleeting. Then she returned Lin's smile with a cute one of her own. A certain idea that had been brewing in her heart intensified.
After the Golden General knocked Zastin away with a whip kick, it did not continue attacking. Lin looked at him from thousands of meters away:
"Do you want to continue?"
His voice, neither loud nor soft, nonetheless reached Zastin's ears with perfect clarity.
"Hu..."
Hearing this, Zastin let out a soft breath, his expression hardening with resolve. Ignoring the discomfort in his right hand, he gripped his sword hilt tightly. He pointed the sword tip at the Golden General.
Clearly, he had no intention of yielding. Even after witnessing the disparity in power.
A sense of helplessness also stirred within him. Earth truly lived up to its reputation. To casually encounter someone with such immense power was astounding.
"Lin."
Just then, Lala suddenly spoke.
"What's wrong?"
Hearing this, Lin looked at her.
Lala moved to Lin's side. "Can you have Zastin and the others approach for a moment? I have something to say."
"Certainly."
Lin nodded with a smile.
Their conversation was clearly audible to Zastin and his two subordinates. Zastin's brows knitted slightly. He sheathed the Photon Sword.
The Golden General and Silver General reverted to the Sword of Damocles, which then instantly appeared not far in front of Lin.
Zastin and the other two's expressions changed slightly. Zastin, especially, with his spatial abilities, finally understood why he had suddenly been unable to use them earlier. Lin's spatial ability was clearly far superior to his own.
Their standing position was noticeably lower. They were not parallel with Lin. Just like when a subject meets an emperor. The emperor sits upon a raised throne, while the subject stands on ground lower than the throne. This represents the emperor's supreme authority.
"Lala-sama?"
Zastin suppressed his internal shock and looked at Lala beside Lin. He wanted to know what Lala had to say.
Lin also looked at Lala. Lala glanced at Zastin. Then she stepped from Lin's side to stand directly in front of him, facing him.
Smiling, she asked aloud: "Lin, do you like me?"
"Are you willing to be my fiancé?"
Her hands gently grasped the hem of her skirt. Her heartbeat accelerated slightly. For the first time, she felt very nervous. It was a nervousness unlike any she'd experienced before.
"Lala-sama!?"
At Lala's sudden declaration, Zastin, his two subordinates, and even Peke were utterly shocked. However, Lala ignored them. She simply stared intently into Lin's eyes. Their eyes met.
Lala's sudden question about becoming her fiancé left Lin momentarily stunned. The Codex of All Things entry had lit up not long ago. He had merely assumed Lala regarded him as a friend. Now it appeared he was mistaken.
Zastin started to speak, then hesitated, his gaze fixed on Lin. He wanted to know how Lin would respond.
Lin remained silent for a moment, then, looking at the visibly nervous Lala, he spoke:
"I certainly like you."
"As for becoming your fiancé, I'd be willing, but..."
"That's enough."
However, Lala cut him off before he could finish. A genuinely joyful smile bloomed on Lala's exquisite face, radiant as a flower opening in the sunlight.
She smiled. "Lin, give me your right hand for a moment."
"Alright..."
A flicker of confusion crossed Lin's eyes. Nevertheless, he extended his right hand.
Lala stepped closer, took Lin's wrist, and guided his hand to rest upon her full bosom.
Lin: "!!!"
Lala's cheeks colored slightly. She then released Lin's hand, turned to Zastin, who was three meters away, and announced:
"Zastin, from this moment on, Lin is officially my fiancé. You may return and inform my father."
"Lala-sama, but this..."
Seeing how rapidly the situation had developed, Zastin couldn't help but frown.
"What's with all this 'but this'?"
Lala cut him off directly, placing her hands on her hips. "Didn't Father always want me to find a fiancé? Now I've found a fiancé I truly like, fulfilling his wishes. What more could my father possibly say?"
"...I understand."
At her words, Zastin nodded. He then looked at Lin, seated on the Golden Throne, and respectfully inquired: "Lord Son-in-law, may I know your name?"
Since this was now an undeniable fact. He had nothing further to object to. Moreover, he held Lin in considerable regard. His formidable strength, for instance. And his handsome looks and dignified temperament. He was entirely worthy of Lala. Based on Lin's earlier words to Lala, his character also seemed impeccable, leaving no cause for concern.
At Zastin's address, a fleeting trace of surprise crossed Lin's eyes, but he offered no rebuttal as he answered:
"My surname is Lin; I am Lin."
With that, he deactivated the Kingship Territory. Everyone's vision blurred, and they found themselves back in the living room.
Realizing they had returned to Earth, Zastin looked at Lala and spoke:
"Lala-sama, I must return to the spaceship and report your official engagement to your father."
"Yes, yes, go on then."
Lala waved her hand, a smile playing on her lips. It was almost as if she were shooing away flies.
The corner of Zastin's mouth twitched slightly. Suppressing his exasperation and helplessness, he addressed Lala and Lin once more:
"Lala-sama, Lord Son-in-law, we shall take our leave."
With that, he turned and walked toward the balcony. His two subordinates quickly followed suit.
After Zastin and his subordinates had departed, Lin turned to Lala. "Lala, there are some things I need to tell you."
