If there's one thing I want, it's a life free of any burden or responsibilities. Yeah, I want to be a free guy. Being the child of a second tier Member of the council of purest hasn't been easy.
Since my birth, nineteen years ago, my father has protected me and taught me of all the right ways to behave being in a council that fights against the evils of the wretched souls. One thing about being born with a strong different unique power within you is that you have to live a dual life, we go on about our lives like the ordinary humans but when the time comes for us to use our powers, we must. That's what we learn in the purest Academy during the weekend.
For years, things have been really calm between us and the wretched souls, more like a cold war. We, the purest exist in this world so that no wretched soul would cause chaos to the purest and the ordinary humans. For a long period of time, the wretched have been without a leader and have failed to gain the supreme power to control the world. That, in many ways has prevent them from taking full control from the Council of the purest
I was born with powers without my permission, I do not see the need to use this power within me Although i have been unable to unlock my powerful gifts. My lack of interest in eliminating the wretched souls has affected my relationship with my father. If there's anybody who wants the total elimination of the wretched souls from this realm, It is my father.
I like the Ordinary life, all I have to do is focus on my studies, take a part time job, go to college and fall in love and start a normal family. And that is exactly what my father hates. I want to hide my powers and live in secret, I don't want to have anything to do with this whole idea of a great camp of the wretched souls . If we were different from the wretched souls who go around killing people, doesn't killing them makes us as cruel as them?
The seer had prophesied years ago that when I discover the potential of the powers I have inside of me, all the hairs in my body would be glowing white, my eyes would turn totally white and my lips, cherry red. These qualities sound unbelievable to me but my mom and dad swears all the time that I was born in that form before changing to my ordinary form.
So far, my father and mother have been doing their best to keep my existence a secret until I'm fully ready to fulfill the prophesy. My dad hates how little my interest is in discovering my powers. I don't want to discover my full potential if it means losing the simple life that I crave for.
The last time I had a conversation with my father about being the child of the prophesy, it didn't end quite well. He just doesn't understand why I have been unable to prove myself as the child of the prophesy. My rank in the purest Academy also hit an all time low in the last ranking, many second tiers members do not even add me to the category of people who could be the child of the prophesy. I still remember the conversation I had with my father that day
"Rhema, I don't understand how you ranked 36 out of 40 Lighters. Second tier members are beginning to believe Rex is the child of the prophecy" I could see the anger and disappointment in his eyes as he spoke to me that day.
"I really tried my best dad" I lied, I've never tried to out did myself in both theory and practicals at the Academy.
"At this point, Rex and Ivy are the strongest lighters. If only you'd allow yourself to use all that power inside of you, then you'll have the strongest lighters as your discipline." He said. What I don't understand about me being the child of the light is that only my parents knows or perhaps believe that I am the child of the prophecy. They claimed to have seen me in my powerful state, yet they told no one about it.
Members of the second tier only have speculations, nobody truly knows who the child of the prophecy is. The only people who seems so sure about knowing who the child of prophecy is are my parents, and they claim I am the one.
