Chapter 8 - Upgrade

The dungeon was overflowing with mana from both the orc king and Minho. The orc king's newfound speed made it look like it was teleporting and reappearing from one point to another. One moment, it was standing right in front of Minho, the next, it was above.

"It's a good thing the system doesn't tell me I've gotten stronger, y'know." Minho muttered. "So, it can be a surprise, everytime."

A feint outline of the orc king's movements played at the back of his head, seconds before it happened - Predator's Instinct leveled up as well. He leapt back, just as the orc king landed and blitzed forward again, cocking his hand back.

"Enough with the aerial attacks. You're being a coward now." Minho's whispered, before giving it a powerful punch that sent it flying.

The orc king gritted it's teeth and quickly controlled it's balance in the air and used the wall to ricochet itself back at Minho. He saw it, but it was too fast to block. It punched him away, glitched and appeared behind him. Before he landed, it appeared behind him and gave him a spinning kick to the ribs.

It moved again, appearing in front of him and slashing with it's spear, and drawing a lot of blood. Then it grabbed him by the neck and tossed him up, leaping after. With powerful force, it stomped on his chest, sending him like a bullet to the ground.

Landing with a mighty THUD, it look at Minho's unmoving in the crater. A crater large enough to have been an explosion spot.

It let out a sigh of relief. It had ended the battle, despite fighting with fear.

A sudden shift in the air, sent a shiver down it's spine. It's eyes widened, the spear in it's hand shaking as it tried to maintain it's composure. A low chuckle echoed in the space. A strange kind of mist started to appear all around, making the dungeon the dungeon blurry. The silence was too deafening and the dungeon walls were nowhere to be found.

The orc king saw Minho's form, standing up. Due to the foggy atmosphere, the only thing it could see were two glowing crimson dots, where Minho's eyes were meant to be. It watched the silhouette as broken bones went back to their normal state. Healed.

With a loud roar, the orc king aimed for Minho's head and shot it's spear. Minho tilted his head, dodging the spear by an inch, and caught it. "It seems you didn't hear me the first time, because you were pissing yourself."

The orc king's eyes widened in terror as it took two steps back. The spear slowly disintegrated in Minho's grip. "So I'll ask again." Minho added. The orc king flinched as the crimson dots now seemed to focus on it.

All it did was blink and Minho was in front of it, gripping it's face tightly and lifting it off the ground. Minho's voice became colder. "How dare you stop the will of destruction?"

With a powerful slam, Minho planted it's head on the ground and a burst of flame erupted from the spot.

Minho removed his hand and ran it through his hair. "It's over." He muttered and sighed, sitting on the ground, exhausted. The mist cleared and the dungeon went back to normal. "What was that anyway?" He brought up the system screen. "You said I had a new title, eh?"

"That's a lot, compared to the last one. I think what I just used was this 'Innate Domain'. I mean, it felt like owned everything at the moment." Minho said, picking his nose. "What's even the title?" He pulled up the main screen.

"Doesn't sound right." Minho pouted. "The previous one sounded better. And what's with my intelligence stat?" He rubbed the back of his head. "I may have relied on brute force, rather than thinking it out, there, hehe."

"Well," he stood up and removed the rag that was meant to be his shirt, and tossed it away. "I better get collecting, before the dungeon closes."

A few minutes passed and Minho was walking towards the the dungeon gate that reappeared, clutching his chest. "Does conversion of mana sources have to hurt this much?" He said, then he stopped on his tracks. "Wait…a red gate becomes red, only when someone is trapped inside. If I'm not mistaking, there should be a lot of people waiting for the person who went in to walk out. Hmm…I can't keep this facade for long though."

"Good thing I got this." He added. A black mask appeared on his face, covering his nose and mouth. It had feint crimson lines and a design that seemed like the teeth of a dragon. "Let's go." He muttered, walking out.

Lots of hunters were waiting outside, ranging from A-ranks to B-ranks from the Hunters Guild, including Hunter Chae Hae-in - one of Korea's S-rank hunters. Suddenly, a mist started to appear around them, every building fading into darkness and their vision getting blurry.

"What's happening?" A hunter asked.

"Is it a dungeon break?" Another asked.

"Everyone get ready for whatever is coming out of that gate!" Hunter Chae commanded.

Minho stepped out of the a calm composure, looked at them and glitched out. The gate sealed shut. All the hunters looked confused, failing to understand what just happened.

Chae Hae-in was the only one who noticed something. Right before the silhouette disappeared, she felt a presence past her, but it was too fast and for some reason that chilled her to the bone, her S-rank reflexes had frozen solid for that split second.

She glanced back at an alley and saw a rat run out. "You can all go back, I'll speak with Guild Master Choi, about this." She said to them and turned, heading for the alley.

Hunter Chae calculated her steps and slowly pulled out her sword. She pointed it, immediately she turned down the alley. The sword was just inches away from a guy's throat. The guy wore an oversized hoodie jacket and was looking scared.

Yes, it was Minho. "Sorry to frighten you. What are you doing here?" She muttered, pulling her sword back.

"I was going home when I saw you guys, so I hid here. Since you were all waiting outside, I thought there was going to be a dungeon break." He muttered.

"Are you a hunter?"

"Y-yes." He replied.

Chae's eyes narrowed to slits. "Rank?"

"I'm…E-rank." He muttered, almost to himself, looking at the ground.

'E-rank? That's what he said, but…for a moment there I felt something, like an A or at most S-rank presence…what am I saying? I must be imagining things. But…my instincts are never wrong. So why can't I sense a thing from him now?' She exhaled and turned to leave. "You can go home."

"Th-thank you." He nodded.

As she left, Minho went the opposite direction. A slight smirk playing on his lips. "So I can also control the amount of mana I emit? I could get used to this." His eyes glinted crimson, before returning to their original state.
