Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Birth of a Name

307 gold coins.

Added to the 737 coins from before, Alex now held over 1,000 coins in total.

And by tomorrow, the Camorra would be sending another 200 coins to the Continental.

So this time, Alex didn't bother penny-pinching.

He directly spent 10 coins for a mid-tier refresh.

At once, the empty discount shop filled with five items:

[1. Backpack Expansion Cards ×10] – Consumable; each card unlocks 1 extra backpack slot. Value: 20 coins (80% off).

[2. Assassin Recruitment Scrolls (Blue) ×30] – Instantly recruit 30 assassins of blue quality, each with a random skill/talent. Value: 90 coins (90% off).

[3. Healing Wax (Blue) ×100] – From Wanted (the movie); a traditional alchemical wax that, when diluted in water, heals any non-lethal wounds within 36 hours. Value: 150 coins (90% off).

[4. Weapon Workshop LV2] – High-quality, fully automated gun workshop. Produces firearms at 50% below market price, requires corresponding blueprints. Value: 200 coins (95% off).

[5. Organization Emblem LV1] – Activates after naming; serves as the primary symbol of an organization. Effects scale with upgrades. Value: 500 coins (90% off).

Truth be told, this refresh was far better than the last.

But the prices… were brutal.

Alex had assumed he could clear the shop with just 100 coins.

Then he saw the final item: 500 coins.

He winced. Half his fortune gone on one thing.

But curiosity gnawed at him.

What was so special about the Organization Emblem?

He tapped it.

A stat sheet appeared:

Item: Organization Emblem

Level: LV1

Function 1: Spend 1 gold coin to mint an identity badge. Each badge is bulletproof; wearer gains +20% stamina recovery and +20% wound healing.

Function 2: Training Camp, Workshop, Infirmary, Armory, Assassin Barracks, etc. – all facility timers reduced by 20%.

Note: Activates once a name is entered. Higher levels grant stronger effects.

"Hissss…"

Even at Level 1, the emblem's power was insane.

Alex's heart pounded.

Grinding his teeth, he spent the 500 coins.

And once that was done, he didn't hesitate—he bought everything else too.

His 1,000+ coins… were gone in a blink.

Only 74 coins remained.

"Might've gone overboard this time…"

Muttering under his breath, Alex exited the shop.

He rose, entered the armory, and pulled out the Weapon Workshop LV2 card.

He hung it on the wall.

Instantly, a panel appeared:

[Name: Weapon Workshop]

[Level: LV2]

[Effect: Automatically produces firearms at 50% below market price.]

[Current Blueprints: None]

Alex wasn't worried. Blueprints were easy to acquire.

And at a 50% profit margin, arms dealing alone could make him rich.

Satisfied, he drew out the Backpack Expansion Cards and the 30 Recruitment Scrolls (Blue).

A thought—and his backpack now had 10 slots.

At the same time, 30 new assassins materialized in the underground base.

He inspected one:

[Name: Clemens George]

[Age: 29]

[Height: 181 cm]

[Skills: English Proficiency LV4, Stealth/Disguise LV3, Close Combat LV3, Firearms LV3, Driving LV3]

[Talent: Cold Weapon Affinity LV2]

Not bad.

In the world of John Wick, he was a solid upper-tier assassin—fully capable of completing contracts solo.

Alex turned to Margarita:

"Get them kitted with bulletproof suits and weapons. Each one gets a phone. Assign contracts immediately."

"Yes, Mr. Alex!"

"And fetch me some standard weapon blueprints—soon."

"I'll make it happen."

With the chores wrapped, Alex finally held the prize that had cost him so dearly: the Organization Emblem.

He was about to name it when Caine appeared from the corridor.

Seeing Alex at the armory door, he quickened his pace, curiosity plain on his face.

"I don't think I ever heard the name of this organization of yours…"

Alex smiled faintly.

Two words slipped from his lips:

"Lighthouse."
