Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Lighthouse’s Cards

"Mr. Caine," Alex explained,

"Based on each member's strength, role, and responsibilities within the organization, they'll be given corresponding identity badges…"

He stood outside the shooting range, watching Anna finish her training.

She wiped sweat from her face with a towel while walking toward him.

Alex gave Caine a rough outline of the Lighthouse Organization's structure:

assassination division, logistics division, enforcement division…

Of course, what he said and the actual situation weren't the same.

After all, this was still just the starting stage.

They had only just established a foothold.

Personnel and territory were still minimal.

There was no need to make the divisions too rigid.

Once higher-quality recruits came in later, restructuring would be easier.

So, for now, Alex kept the assignments simple:

Green-rank assassins → responsible for security at the hotel and club, under Susie's command. Her duty was to keep both places running smoothly.

Blue-rank assassins → handled external contracts, managed by Margarita, who also oversaw weapons and supply distribution.

At this stage, their main source of funds came from these 30 blue-rank assassins taking on contracts.

Alex jokingly referred to them as:

"Kill-Delivery Couriers."

As for Anna, Duggan, and Caine—they were strategic-level talents, directly answering to Alex.

To distinguish their status, Alex spent 5 coins to craft four types of badges:

Hearts Series → Queen of Hearts: Anna (Lighthouse's Ace Female Assassin).

Spades Series → King of Spades: Duggan (Lighthouse's Ace Male Assassin).

Clubs Series → King of Clubs: Caine (Lighthouse's Near-Retired Assassin).

Diamonds Series → Ten of Diamonds: Susie; Nine of Diamonds: Margarita (Lighthouse's Logistics Managers).

Why playing cards?

Alex's explanation:

"They're soft, lightweight, fit perfectly in a suit's breast pocket… and can even shield the heart."

The truth?

He simply couldn't be bothered designing something elaborate.

The next morning.

Caine left New York to help his daughter process her passport and bring her back.

Margarita also set out early, borrowing ten green-rank assassins from Susie.

According to Susie, Margarita was going to "buy" weapon blueprints.

Susie herself was still buried in work.

She spent the morning supervising every detail of the hotel and club renovations.

Oh—and she'd already renamed them:

The Lighthouse Hotel and The Lighthouse Club.

Anna wasn't around either.

She had tasked Duggan with protecting Alex and gone down to the underground training base to begin her tactical training.

Around 10 a.m., representatives of the Camorra family arrived at the Lighthouse Hotel.

Alex wasn't idle either.

He welcomed them.

Two assassins stood beside their pale-faced envoy, who carried a black suitcase.

Inside was Alex's promised payment: 200 gold coins, along with the deeds to the hotel and club.

Money delivery—Alex was happy to meet them.

But once he did, he almost regretted it.

The man looked ghastly pale, sickly, occasionally gagging.

His excuse?

"Bad food last night. Terrible food poisoning…"

Alex wasn't convinced.

He half-suspected the Camorra deliberately sent him just to disgust him.

So, without exchanging many words, Alex had Susie hand him 50 million USD, took the deeds and the 200 coins, and promptly dismissed them.

Meanwhile.

John Wick, having ended his contract with Alex, had gone home.

He thought carefully about Caine's advice.

Early that morning, he bought a plane ticket and flew to Guadalajara, Mexico.

From the airport, he hailed a cab to a small town far from the city center.

By noon, he arrived.

Standing at the town's entrance, John Wick lingered for a long time.

His thoughts drifted back over 20 years.

Back then, he hadn't yet become a hitman.

He was just a petty thief on the streets.

One day, he'd stolen something from the infamous Tres Bille Organization.

The result: a relentless manhunt, forcing him to flee… straight to this very town.

What he never expected was that his actions would cause the Tres Bille to slaughter the entire town.

Though he eventually avenged them, it remained a past he could never face.

Now, seeing the town thriving again, John Wick sighed deeply and stepped forward.

Unaware—

this journey would soon bring about earth-shaking changes in his life.
