Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Messing with the uptight Kurusu.

Floating a little above the moving train, Kaelis watched as Kurusu pointed his gun at him demanding answers.

Though Kurusu tried to keep his composure, Kaelis could perceive the apprehensiveness in his posture.

"Wh—who are you..really?!" He demanded.

Seizing the chance to have a little fun, Kaelis softened his features into a mockingly gentle expression.

"Come to me, my child~ behold! It is I, your one true lord and savior… God himself!"

Kurusu froze for a heartbeat, caught off guard—but the act didn't fool him. His brows furrowed, and a scowl formed in response.

"Quit messing around and answer me this instant!" His finger lingered on the trigger, trembling slightly, betraying his supposed composure.

"Do not be afraid, child. No being here can bring you harm."

Seeing that Kurusu might fire at any moment, he uses his spirit to immediately restrain him.

He floated down slowly towards him with outstretched arms.

"!" Seeing Kaelis drawing closer, Kurusu was about to pull the trigger when he realizes he cannot move as if petrified.

"W—what!? Why… can't I move!? Hng… ugh!" He began panicking.

It was as though a real god had blessed him, for Kaelis' arms had closed around him in a soft, reassuring embrace.

"Huh?" he exclaimed.

"There there~. No need to be afraid anymore." Kaelis said soothing him, patting his back like a newborn baby that was crying.

With two hundred years of experience as a father and grandfather had allowed him to instantly curb any misbehavior from children.

He put his method into action, and Kurusu's fiery mood fizzled out as if snuffed by an unseen hand.

They stayed like this for a few seconds before Kaelis pulled back from the hug and asked, "Are you calm now, my child?" He released him from his telekinesis hold.

Watching as he could only answer with "Huh" and "Ah" absentmindedly.

Looking at the state he had put the young soul in, Kaelis could no longer keep the charade. He broke out in a fit of laughter.

"PFFT—hahahaha! You should see your face, man…!"

He began mocking him, bent over with hands on his knees and pointing at his face.

"Don't tell me that worked, hahaha! I haven't done that in so lon—pfftt!"

Kurusu who was still dazed snapped out of it and fired his shot square at Kaelis's laughing face.

BANG—CLINK!

It sounded as if it had hit metal before bouncing off, which stunned him again.

But he forgot about it immediately as the sound of laughter reach ear.

"What did you do!? Why are you laughing!? Answer me!" He went crazy with rage.

"Haaa! Nah man. Nothing much really. Just used telekinesis to trap you in place for a bit. You were pretty nervous." After catching his breath, Kaelis explained.

"Telek—what?" He had never heard of such terms.

"Telekinesis. Ability to move stuff with your mind. You never heard of it?"

"I did not! Is that how you were floating before?!" He answered aggressively.

"Man, you guys are backwatered. Yes and no." Said Kaelis.

"And what about that light from before?"

"You mean the beams? Yea those were part of my powers."

"Powers? You mean you aren't human? Are you a kabaneri as well?" Kurusu gripped his gun more firmly.

Damn these guys are pretty narrow minded. Kaelis complained in his mind.

"Do I look like a kabaneri? Sigh!" He sighed dramatically.

"I can never be too sure."

Kaelis gave him a deadpan look. "Alright, let me reintroduce myself. My name is Kaelis valeblade, a world traveler, nice to meet you." He extended a hand.

"A world traveler? What's a traveler doing around these parts?"

Kaelis's eyes narrowed "I think you're mistaken, when I say world traveler, I don't mean travel from country to country. I mean travel to different worlds."

"!" Kurusu was in shock and disbelief. "World… traveler? You mean… you're not from this world?"

"That's right. You've already seen the powers right?"

"Yes… I have." He is slowly beginning to accept the idea of other possible worlds.

He had already seen Kaelis using his powers which were pretty devastating. No kabane has shown any potential for such powers yet.

But then again, he was introduced to the new "kabaneri" a couple days ago, a human-kabane hybrid. Anything is quite possible at this stage.

Still pointing his gun at him, Kurusu asked one more question, "Are you an enemy?"

Kaelis looked at him and smirked. "You aren't worth it."

Kurusu's face darkened a bit before he lowered his weapon. "Seeing as my weapon has no effect on you, I'll have to take your word for it."

"Whew. Thought I might have to hug you again there."

"Don't you dare!"

Screech!

"Hm? What's that?" Kaelis asked as they saw the train change from one trail point to another.

Though he knows what it means, he doesn't know where it leads to either. But though he might not know, someone else did…

"The train changed course for kongokaku!? What's lady Ayame thinking!?"

"Is that a bad thing or…"

"Yes. For us to reach kongokoku, we must go through a tunnel and risk kabane bombarding the train! Tsk! Let's go!"

Kaelis followed him down into the train.

Inside, they moved through the car to reach the engine room, where the leading figures were before pushing the door open.

"Where is lady Ayame?" Kurusu demanded.

"Ah Sir Kurusu. Lady Ayame is up there with Sir Akouji." A worker pointed up a staircase.

"Thanks."

They climbed it and reached the area where the master key was inserted.

They saw Ayame behind an elderly man Kaelis assumed was the so-called Akouji.

"Lady Ayame. Are you alright?" She turned around from hearing Kurusu words.

"Kurusu!" A small smile bloomed on her face as drew closer when she caught sight of another familiar face. "Sir Kaelis!"

"Kaelis will do just fine. I told you this before, didn't I?"

"Oh Sorry!" She apologized sheepishly.

"But lady Ayame, what's going on here? What is Akouji doing here?" Kurusu's question made Ayame's smile fade and become downcasted.

Before she could answer though, Akouji himself turned around and answered. "I'm the one I change now."

"What!?"

"Who allowed that!?" demanded Kurusu but Ayame stopped him.

"I allowed it, Kurusu."

"But why?"

All this is happening while Kaelis just watched on the sideline.

He could already guess what happened. It was probably an insurrection, or some form of dissatisfaction with the current leader.

From the personality he has seen exhibited by Ayame, she probably isn't that strong willed to make proper decisions and the people wanted a better leader.

Well, that's not my problem now is it. As long as they don't point any fingers at me for stupidness, then we cool.
