Chapter 22 - The Last Light

Chapter 22 – The Last Light

The Silence After the Storm

When the light faded, the sky was no longer burning.

The gods hovered like ghosts — their armor cracked, their pride shattered.

The once-golden Pantheon was silent, kneeling before the one they had cast out.

Eryndor stood in the center of the ruined heavens, his wings dimming. The balance had been restored… but at a cost.

The earth below had stopped trembling. Rivers flowed again, stars found their rhythm.

But Seliora's voice — the warmth that guided him through every storm — had fallen silent.

"Seliora…" he whispered into the endless light. "You kept me human. I won't lose that now."

---

The Promise

He walked through the field of starlight, where souls of the fallen shimmered like fireflies.

At the center lay Seliora's essence — faint, flickering, beautiful.

The gods watched wordlessly as Eryndor knelt beside her, cupping the fading glow in his palms.

Serath stepped forward. "If you restore her… you will lose everything. Your divinity, your immortality—your place among us."

Eryndor smiled — soft, tired, free.

"Then I will finally be at peace."

He pressed his forehead to the light. "No god should love this much… but I was never a very good god."

---

The Rebirth

The heavens shook one final time.

Eryndor's body dissolved into radiant dust — gold and silver merging into a single streak that fell toward the mortal world.

The gods shielded their eyes as his divine energy spread through the realms, healing what their wars had scarred.

Where his light touched, life bloomed.

Where it lingered, Seliora's soul began to take form once more — human, warm, alive.

When the light faded, the Pantheon's throne stood empty.

Balance had left the heavens forever.

A Dawn in Breya

Years later, in the quiet village of Breya, a young woman tended a garden beside a small cottage near the river.

Her golden eyes caught the sunrise — eyes that once belonged to an angel.

A boy ran up the path toward her, laughing, his hair dark and his smile bright.

"Mother, come see! The water's glowing again!"

Seliora smiled, her heart full of something she couldn't name — memory, perhaps, or a dream.

She looked toward the river, where ripples caught the morning light in gold and silver hues.

And for a fleeting moment, she heard a voice in the wind:

> "I kept my promise."

Epilogue – Balance Restored

The gods still whisper of the fallen one —

The god who chose love over eternity.

The mortal who taught heaven mercy.

And somewhere beyond the veil,

a faint light still shines — not divine, not mortal —

but perfectly balanced.
