Amethyst's POV
I woke up to the sound of beeping and the smell of antiseptic. My body and head aches but mostly my neck.
'Summer what the hell happened?' I ask my wolf. 'Summer?' No answer. I start to panic making the machines beep louder. Then someone grabs my hand. I look over and see Kyra next to me. She gives me a small smile.
"Hey, it's okay, you're in the local pack hospital, you're safe." Kyra says calmly
"I'll go get the nurse." I turn to see Rhett by the door about to leave.
"What happened? Why can't I talk to Summer? Why am I in the hospital? Who brought me here? Did someone call my parents, goddess I hope not." I start spouting questions.
"Ames, calm down. We will explain everything." Kyra says. Just as she finishes saying that the nurse and a doctor walk in. The nurse starts checking my vitals while the doctor looks over my chart.
"Hi Amethyst, I'm Dr. Black. How are you feeling?" The Doctor asks
"I have some pain in my neck, my body hurts, my head hurts and I can't reach my wolf."
"All very understandable, may I speak freely or would you rather your friends step out while we have this conversation?
"They can stay."
Nodding his head he continues " Let's start with your wolf, you can't reach her right now because it seems your attacker used a wolfsbane tranquilizer, it's not as strong as full wolfsbane or as weak as a regular tranquilizer, the tranquilizer put you both to sleep but it will take a little longer for your wolf to regain consciousness because of the wolfsbane. It's most likely why he used it. He didn't want your wolf to wake up too early to fight back but most likely wanted to make sure you woke up sooner rather than later. It's also most likely why your head and body hurts, wolfsbane as you know is painful for us and it keeps our wolfs healing ability to weaken or stop completely depending on the dose."
Nodding in understanding I breathe a sigh of relief, "So, Summer will be okay, she's just sleeping?"
"Exactly. Once she wakes fully your pain will fully go away. Now we need to discuss the pain in your neck."
"Okay."
"So I'm sad to say, it looks like you were forcefully marked." He pauses to let it sink in. I take in a sharp breath and start shaking afraid to ask the question on the tip of my tongue.
"Does that mean I am mated to him." I say barely above a whisper.
"Fortunately, no, we ran other tests and the mating wasn't completed, however, the mark may take a few weeks to completely go away and if you have intercourse with the one who gave you that mark, either willingly or by force, the bond will solidify and you will become a mated pair."
I let out a small sob of relief.
"Miss, I highly recommend you file a report to the council. As it is because it was a forced marking I had to report it myself and the council will be here within the hour to question you. None of us can force you to name names but you should. The council can provide a protection order to keep him away from you and also put out an arrest order so they can punish him for his sins against our laws." I nod, not really sure what I want to do. With that the doctor leaves and the nurse follows after asking if I needed anything.
"I am so sorry I ruined your guys' night, why don't you go back to prom, enjoy the rest of the evening. I will call an uber to bring me home as soon as I am discharged." I say feeling guilty that my issues with Cliff took them away from prom.
"Ames don't be ridiculous, you are far more important than a dance." Kyra states firmly.
"Yeah Amethyst, when I asked to be your date, I meant the whole night, hospital visit and all." Rhett says
"Thanks guys." I respond with tears in my eyes.
An hour later two people come into my room. They introduced themselves as members of the council, Elder Andre and Elder Brenna.
"We are here because there has been a report of a forced marking. Is this true?" Elder Andre Asks.
I just nod my head as Rhett and Kyra answers with "Yes."
"Are you comfortable with us asking questions dear?" Elder Brenna asks.
"Yes."
"And are you comfortable with your friends being in the room? We can ask them to leave." She continues.
"They can stay." I respond
Elder A: "Very well. Can we take a look at the area of marking?"
"Yes." I answer and Elder Brenna comes over to take a look. Then she nods her head towards Elder Andre.
Elder A: "When exactly did this occur?"
"This evening at prom."
Elder B: "Did you give permission to be marked?"
"No."
Elder A: "Did you give any false hope or reason for the wolf in question to mark you?"
"No."
Elder B: "Is there a reason why they might have done this?"
I play with the hem of my hospital gown and take a deep breath. "He was my ex, we were going to be chosen mates after I graduated, we had our mating set for this summer, but I found out he was cheating on me so I called off our relationship, told him I no longer wanted him as my chosen mate and that I didn't love him anymore. He's been pestering me for months trying to get me to take him back but I have refused. When he cornered me tonight, I told him again that we were over and that we were never going to be mates. He then apologized, put his hand over my mouth, shoved me into a dark corner and then everything went black but not before I reached out to my pack-mates for help. I was told he injected me with wolfsbane tranquilizer and tried to take me away from prom and if it wasn't for my friends and pack-mates stopping him, he probably would have forced me into a permanent bond." I force it all out and my voice quivers at the end.
Elder A: "Do you have any proof of you ending the relationship? Of this alleged cheating and stalking behavior?"
"I have video proof of the cheating. It was my ex-girlfriend he was cheating with. I had suspicions so I let Amethyst know and we went together to confirm our suspicions. I was also there the night she broke things off with the jerk as were quite a few others as it was at a holiday party." Rhett retorts.
"And I can vouch for the stalking, he constantly showed up at my home or other mutual friends homes trying to find out if Ames was with us and if she was if he could talk with her. I'm sure we can get others to confirm our story if you need." Kyra chimed in.
Elder A: "That won't be necessary at this time but we will be getting all your contact information in case we need to investigate further."
Elder Brenna turns to me, "Please dear, give us the name of your ex so we can file the report and summon him for questioning."
"Questioning? That's it?" Rhett demands. "You're not going to arrest him and punish him? You saw the mark yourself, you got the report from the doctor. What more do you want!?"
Elder Andre turns to Rhett and addresses him directly. "We understand your concern, but we have to do this properly. We have to investigate and get all sides. It's a lengthy process. However once we have his name we can immediately issue a protection order that will prevent him from ever coming near Miss Grey ever again."
Rhett just scoffs then leans in and whispers so low in my ear so that only I can hear. "Don't do it, just let me handle it. If you give them his name it won't guarantee he will be punished, his parents are elders and have pull. They will let him off easy."
I hesitate and let his words sink in. He does have a point. I don't know what to do and I wish Summer was awake to give me her thoughts.
