Chapter 193 - I am Iron Man

"Jill Valentine, identity unknown, origin unknown. Judging by her accent, she should be English, but there's no record of her in any database, and there are no results from facial comparisons?" Jarvis presented the information about Jill to Tony, instantly silencing his incessant chatter.

"Could this chick have had plastic surgery and then changed her name? Look at her face, how could anyone have a face without a single flaw? Based on my years of experience, she definitely didn't look this beautiful before!" Tony Stark, as expected of the first old driver in Marvel, pointed out a few suspicious spots with a flick of his finger.

Actually, it couldn't be called plastic surgery. Jill, as a special forces team member before, didn't pay much attention to taking care of herself, so she had some small scratches and scars.

But because she had been soaking in Umbrella Corporation's high-tech nutrient solution for the past few days, those injuries and scars had all faded away. Not only was her skin smoother and more delicate, but her appearance also seemed to have returned to the age of eighteen.

"Wait a minute! It doesn't seem like plastic surgery. What brand of skincare products did she use? The effect is so good?" Tony Stark fiddled with the virtual projection for a long time, and finally started muttering to himself.

"Tony!"

Just as he was stunned, the office door was suddenly pushed open.

The only person who could enter his office without authorization was his personal secretary, Pepper Potts.

"Tony, is this your new target?" Pepper asked as soon as she entered, seeing Tony staring blankly at a holographic projection of a woman. A nameless rage instantly flared from her feet to the top of her head.

She was running around like crazy taking care of his business, and he was thinking about other women in his office!

Although she had experienced this kind of thing many times, it still filled her with resentment every time!

What the hell did this guy think of her?

The relationship between Pepper and Tony was very subtle. Although they often spent time together, and Tony trusted her very much, he had never treated her as his official girlfriend.

After all, no one would ask their girlfriend to pimp for them, right?

If she really wanted to describe it, then she should be considered a mistress who hadn't been officially promoted yet?

"No, it's just a bit strange!" Tony snapped his fingers, and Jarvis immediately closed all the files.

"What do you need?" He turned to Pepper Potts and asked.

"The Supreme Court and Congress have both issued you a summons. If you don't go to Congress for the accusation hearing before this Wednesday, we'll be in big trouble!" Pepper Potts took note of Jill Valentine's appearance in her mind, then subtly took out the two summons.

"There's no need to pay attention to this kind of thing, right? What are our lawyers for?" Tony Stark threw the summons into the trash can directly. Stark Industries had the best legal team in America, even the world. He wasn't afraid of a lawsuit with the Supreme Court and Congress simultaneously.

"You have to go. What happened on Sixth Avenue a few days ago seriously affected our company's stock price. The military has also been inquiring about the Iron Armor that appeared that night. The tech department has caught enough spies to form a reinforced battalion!" Pepper Potts helplessly rubbed her temples. This guy was always like this, making a mess and then washing his hands of it. Obadiah used to clean up after him; now it was her turn.

"It's all small stuff. Let the professionals handle it. I don't pay them so much every year just for them to play around!" Tony Stark didn't care at all; he was too lazy to deal with these mundane matters.

"If you don't solve this, the group will keep getting harassed, so you have to go. I've already had the legal team prepare the entire speech for you." Pepper Potts wouldn't budge. She took out a thick stack of files from her bag.

"All the possible issues have been prepared. By the way, the public relations department will donate to sixteen non-profit organizations and thirteen charitable foundations, with a total amount of about seven hundred and sixty million US dollars!"

Bribing in America was absolutely not feasible, but that didn't stop people from accomplishing their goals using other methods.

For example, right now, the twenty-plus units marked by Pepper Potts all appear to be unrelated charitable organizations. But in reality, each unit has several congressmen lurking behind it.

As for where the donations ultimately go?

Well, everyone knows what's going on, so there's no need to make it too complicated!

"I hate this dirty politics!" Tony Stark looked displeased, but still pulled out a pen and signed the document.

He really did hate scheming against people, but that didn't mean he was an idiot.

The reason he could ignore Congress and the Supreme Court was because of these charitable donations. After all, congressmen also needed to eat, and no one could possibly live well on just their salaries!

"Okay, you read through all those answers, and I'll arrange to prepare your schedule for Wednesday!" Seeing Tony sign, Pepper's face finally lit up with a smile. She then walked over to him, leaned down, and gently kissed his cheek.

"I got it!" Tony Stark gave a wry smile. Once Pepper adopted this pose, he was completely defenseless and could only let her do as she pleased.

Two days passed in a flash. While the four turtles were still diligently digging their tunnels and someone was remodeling their first basement, Tony Stark finally arrived at the Congress hall to be interrogated.

Countless media outlets swarmed in, eager to get their hands on firsthand interview material.

Before the meeting, almost all the attending congressmen had received news. Their foundations, whether overt or covert, related or unrelated, had all received a donation from Stark Industries, and the amount was enormous, so large that it could allow them to rewrite the Constitution.

So, everyone had come to the meeting with the intention of going through the motions. Although the military was very envious of the humanoid Iron Armor that appeared on Sixth Avenue that day, in reality, everyone knew in their hearts that it was impossible to get Tony Stark to hand over that kind of technology.

So, in theory, as long as someone played dumb and answered with complete ignorance, the meeting could be over!

It's just that, obviously, this Tony Stark guy didn't play by the rules.

He didn't even look at the answers carefully prepared by the legal team, but instead, he stood up and announced to the world's media:

"I am Iron Man!"
