Chapter 16 - Are You Sick?

"I don't need her help!" June stood up.

"I wasn't going to offer it either." Sari retorted.

"Okay, I have had enough of you two for 12 hours. Last night, you two came home separately after leaving the house together. Now, one of you is seriously running a fever and you still think I have the energy to entertain your shenanigans? I am not going to tolerate even a modicum of attitude from you two this morning." Gita said furiously.

"She should have stayed in the car instead of leaving after an argument." Sari commented.

"An argument? You literally took my words the wrong way, and then told me to my face that I deserve to be cheated on. No matter how careless you are, there are certain things you must never say to me."

"What about you? Weren't you trying to judge me?"

"I was trying to protect you..."

"I don't need your protection. I'm not a child, June."

"You are right. From now on, I'm just going to watch you, and say nothing even if you are falling in a ditch. I bet after a broken arm and leg later, you will surely come back to your senses."

Gita closed her eyes, exhausted from having to listen to them bicker so early in the morning.

"Did you hear that? This is the exact reason why I always say you are a ...." Sari's words hanged in the air when she saw June fall to the floor.

"June..." Gita rushed forward and held June's body. "She's burning."

"What is wrong with her?" Sari panicked.

"Call the paramedics, damn it!" Gita yelled at Sari.

Sari removed her phone to make the call.

.....

Mory Hospital.

Both Gita and Sari stood in the ward worriedly as the doctor checked on June. "Dr. Chad, how's June doing?" Sari asked.

"She must have suffered from the flu for a while now, but didn't realize it because of her condition. But you usually take notice of her symptoms and get her here early. How did she get this seriously sick and none of you realized it?" Dr. Chad asked.

Sari and Gita sighed. They both felt guilty for not being able to detect early that June was sick.

"Don't worry, she will be fine after taking her flu shot and some medication. She is also exhausted, which I believe is from the filming she's been doing lately. She needs a lot of rest." Dr. Chad added.

"Dr. Chad, about the psychiatrist you recommended, is he still not available? I would like to consult him about June's condition." Sari asked.

"Actually, he will be in the US next month. I will try and get him to arrange a meeting with him for you."

"That will be great. Thank you, Dr. Chad." Hearing this gave Sari hope.

"I will leave you two with June. Call me when she wakes up." Dr. Chad smiled and went out.

"I will follow him to get the prescription for June. Stay with her." Gita said to Sari before going out.

Sari covered June with the hospital quilt and sat on the chair next to the bed. "Forgive me, June. I'm such a horrible person. I couldn't even detect early that you were sick. My misplaced priorities almost killed you."

Sari held June's hand. "I promise, this will never happen again. As your manager, I failed you. As your sister, I almost caused you, your life. You must hate me, right?"

Outside the ward, Gita chuckled softly and turned to go. As she walked towards Dr. Chad's consulting room, she saw Tatum, coming out of another consulting room with a lady she didn't know.

"Gita? Are you sick?" Tatum asked, anxiously.

"What business of yours is it, whether I'm sick or not?" Gita replied uneasily.

"Gita, here is the prescription. You can get the medicine from the pharmacy on your left around the OPD." Dr. Chad came out of his consulting room and saw Gita, so he handed her the prescription form.

"Thank you, Dr. Chad." Gita didn't spare Tatum a glance and simply walked away.

"Doctor, is the lady sick?" Tatum stopped Dr. Chad and asked.

"I'm sorry but I can't disclose such information to you." Dr. Chad answered and went back to his consulting room.

"Is she the one? The woman you can't have?" Frie asked with a smirk.

"Shut up!" Tatum walked away.

"Come on, Tatum..." Frie hurried after him.

Gita humped as she stood to take the medicine for June.

....

Ward 056

"I admit, it was my own insecurities talking. Instead of facing the truth and admitting that I might have made a mistake by dating Tony, I tried to gaslight you and even opened up your wounds. I'm such a terrible person. I cannot believe I said such hurtful things to you." Sari continued.

The door opened and Gita entered. "You should have said that before she fainted. You are just hopeless."

"That's why I'm apologizing."

"Why did you even go and date the CEO of your label? I must say, you have guts." Gita placed the medicine on the table.

"He wasn't as at the time we started dating. I didn't know June would agree to sign with them that easily." Sari pouted her lips.

"So, are you breaking up with him or not? You need to be honest with June when she wakes up."

"I can't break up with him right now. We agreed to date passionately for three months."

"Is he good in bed?" Gita knew the only reason why Sari would hesitate to break up with a man was if that man was good in bed.

"Very good. He's extremely good and I can't help it..."

"Cut! Don't give me the graphic details. I don't want to be tormented." Gita frowned at Sari with a disgusting expression.

"Whatever!" Sari rolled her eyes.

"So noisy!" June mumbled and slowly opened her eyes.

"You are awake." Sari stood up and asked.

"How do you feel?" Gita also asked.

June exhaled deeply and stared at them. "I can't even get a moment of sleep because of your chatter." She complained.

"She's fine. I will go and get the doctor." Gita kissed June's forehead before rushing out.

Sari poured her a glass of water. "Drink some water."

"Thank you." June sipped the water and smiled.

"About last night and this morning..."

"Are you going to fight with me again?" June asked.

"No. I want to apologize. Last night and this morning, I totally crossed the line. I said some things that I wasn't supposed to say to you. It was my insecurities and I take full accountability for them."

"Well, I started it. I should have minded my own business."

"Don't ever say that. You were right. And I know it too. My dating life is messy and I shouldn't have seduced Tony. You were worried about me and I totally understand that. What I'm trying to say is that you were honest with me because you love me and I don't want you to mind your business. You are allowed to call me out. It's just that you can be a little harsh, you do know that, right?" Sari made an apologetic face.

"Yeah, I know. I could have done better with my words. I'm sorry, Sari."

"I'm the one who is sorry. I'm such a horrible person. I didn't even know you were burning with fever and..."

"That's water under the bridge." June smiled.

"Thank you, so much, cuz. I absolutely adore you, my cash cow." Sari hugged June.

"Okay, the doctor is here..." Gita walked in with Dr. Chad.

.....

Mory Estates Apartment 507.

"Here, a cup of coffee for you and some fruits for you." Sari handed a mug of coffee to Gita and a plate of assorted fruits to June.

"Why does she get coffee and I don't?" June frowned.

"The doctor said no coffee until you have finished taking your medicine." Gita and Sari said simultaneously.

"I hate you girls." June turned to look at her phone.

"Let's see what's on Prime entertainment news." Gita picked the remote and changed the channel.

'Moving on to entertainment news of the week. Actor and entrepreneur Luigi Oren is busy in Africa, raising awareness on plastic waste, and also shooting a mini vlog with Elle and Vogue joint collaboration.'

"Look who's on the news?" Gita nudged June, teasingly.

"What?" June furrowed her brows.

"How's it going with him? Has he checked on you since he left a week ago?" June asked.

"We don't have any kind of relationship, so why would he check on me?" June blushed.

"Your ears are red, June." Sari stated.

"No, they're not." June denied.

"I thought something would happen between you two after he brought you home that night. Did I see it wrong? I could feel some tension in the air." Gita looked at June.

"Don't look at me. I told you to drop that idea. He was just being nice."

"So, he hasn't contacted you since he left?" Sari asked curiously.

"Well, he has. Last night, he sent me a text. Tony told him I was sick and he wanted to check on me. That's all."

Sari and Gita smirked.

"Darling, you sound disappointed a bit. You haven't fallen for him, have you?" Gita asked.

"What? No! I don't like him. Why are you two suddenly interested in my dating life?" June glared at them.

"You haven't dated anyone in the last five years. We are just worried that you might need a little break. At least, your body needs it." Sari teased.
