Chapter 37 - Stephanie: Empty Wing

"Once you're done with that, make sure you come for the staff meeting. It's mandatory not to be late. Not even a minute or second late," the man said, glancing at his watch.

"You have less than two minutes to give the young Master his water and come to the sunroom."

Mom nodded as she watched the man's retreating figure.

"Are you okay?" I asked mom when I noticed she was anxious. "Don't tell me you're letting his tough facade get into your head."

"Stop trying to downplay this. He seemed serious to me." Sofia had already landed on the bed, yawning.

I ignored her. "He was just bluffing."

Mom didn't answer, but I saw the irritation flicker on her face. She turned when a passing staff member came out way. "Do you know where the kitchen is? I'm new here and I think I lost my way.

The staffer pointed toward a narrow passage. "When you reach the end of the hallway, take six rights and one left."

"Six rights and one left. Got it." Mom repeated almost like she wanted to write it down.
