Chapter 15 - AN OPPORTUNITY COST

Face twisted nervously, Shee Bah pulled her hands out of his hands instantly asking:

"How sure are you?!"

Her inquisitiveness exceeded the expected limit. She felt deeply drowned and concerned with knowing, a clear sign that she was still so deeply attacked to her music talent and she yearned deep inside for clarity. At the moment, her restless gesture spoke loudly.

After all, music was the only thing Shee Bah had ever done and loved passionately since her childhood days, of course before she met her husband Madrat.

Looking at her, Madrat saw how she was all warmed up, trying to hide her excitement but could not, her arms covered in a goosebump rush and an instant glow display in the eyes. Which expressed happiness that came from deep down, within her soul.

She immediately noticed the keen eye her husband gave her.

By the curious gesture of her husband's face, Shee Bah knew that her body reaction at that moment was going to get him to start doubting the decision she made _ whether it was out of good will to say she had quit music to focus on building their family or she forced herself into a choice she doubted herself.

In a long run, she had to put on an instant show of pretence.

With a partially jolly face, an overwhelming thought lingered as she leaned her head back on the headrest, pretending, trying to show him that music was not something she gave a damn concern about at the moment, still standing strong on the decision she made.

But the thought at the back of her mind could not allow her to rest.

"He can't be lying! Why would he.....? This is too delicate an issue to be joked over!"

The feeling of joy was too much internally for her to hide. And the continuous beam after receiving such overwhelming news stated nothing like doubt except satisfaction. Shee Bah really wished to see crowds singing to her music in stadiums. It was her wildest dream.

Speechlessly, Madrat kept his attention on her in disguise, after reading her gesture of pretence.

She continued to beam unknowingly.

However, since she had, willingly, for the love she had for him, made a choice in his eyes: to put her music talent off her mind and focus on being a fully committed house wife, Shee Bah struggled right there with swallowing the joy she was feeling, and wearing an, "I don't care at all" face, so that she doesn't get him thinking that the decision she openly made a week back, was all a blindfold.

It was as hard as nut cracking to hide such a special feeling. She couldn't lie to herself.

And all the time she beamed, watching the air, quirking corners of her mouth, as though she was both intrigued and delighted that she had done this, that her dream was finally coming to fruition, a thing she struggled with for many years.

At the back of Shee Bah's mind, with a little bit of uneasiness due to lack of actual proof, excitedly though:

"Funny how after an opportunity cost, that the heavens want to shock me with two hand blessings! But no, I need clarity first!"

She sighed several times mentally:

"So unbelievable!"

Inside his house standing right near his play station, Chi Koh madly shouted as he held a calling mobile phone on his ear.

"Pick up your phone damn you!!"

The person he was trying to call, moving with extreme nervousness was not answering the phone until it broke off. Immediately, he gave the dial a second try and amidst, finally a female voice came through, relaxed and free:

"Yes Chi Koh!"

On tension, in a calm voice on an instant, Chi koh said:

"Listen Ruby, I want you to listen good! I can't tell whether this fire on the mountain is going to warm me up or burn me to ashes! But this tide on the ocean that is shaking the boat, before it drowns me up I need to improvise a solution in a meantime."

He added while Ruby listened behind the phone:

Don't ask me why but please, I need you to put a hold on publishing the information that I gave to you this early morning!"

Behind the phone, a question hits back:

"Why? This information is a hot cake to sale!"

Sounding worried, he replied:

"Still you asked! Anyways, can you believe that Madrat has just left my house minutes ago?"

In disbelief Ruby responded:

"You should stop dreaming. We both know he is your worst nightmare but please...!"

"And you think am joking? I have a camera at my house front in case you need proof!"

Suprised in disbelief:

"Wait! Don't tell me you're serious!"

Chi Koh barked confoundedly:

"Goddammit Ruby I am serious! The guy was here and I nearly wetted my pants infront of him. The guy is like a mythical being _ a god in a human body!"

"Alright, I want to believe you but you need to calm down first!"

Ruby added:

"Then here's the plan. How about we use the camera photage as part of proof to publish the information you gave us in headlines with a perfect explanation. You have old photos of you together with Shee Bah, right?"

"Yes!"

"Then what else do you need to prove that he came right at your door to frighten you to leave his woman alone? Remember, Shee Bah is now married to him, you have nothing to loose here! You've always wanted to bring him down and this is your chance. The public will go against him for cheating on his wife with Angie, and remember Angie is such a big brand with very many fans. Which means, the public will automatically sympathise with the ladies. Hence his career at steak!"

She added:

"It's high time you focus on how to win from this Chi Koh! It's going to make you famous, and you are bound to get some good money out of it!"

All chickened out, Chi Koh found himself in a heap of thoughts with a phone still held on his ear.

For quite a moment of silence, Ruby asked:

"Are you still online Chi Koh? Please say something!"

He sighed for Ruby to feel his presence. Then, calm she asked him:

"What do you think?"

Chi Koh took a deep breath to relax his mind out of anxiety:

"I think you have a point."

Exactly as Madrat was alerted by just a mere instinct that Chi Koh, with bias, had gone an extra mile to reveal the secret information out to the media outlets.
