Chapter 101 - Ideology

The brilliant Rainbow Bridge faded into the horizon, taking Thor and his four companions with it. Jane reluctantly withdrew her gaze.

The moment Thor and the others stepped out of the Bifröst, they saw Heimdall collapsed on the ground, unconscious.

The Casket of Ancient Winters, the Frost Giants' most sacred relic, held within it an unimaginable cold. The fact that Heimdall had survived breaking free from its icy prison and even managed to summon the Bifröst once more was nothing short of extraordinary.

"Get him to the healing chamber," Thor ordered curtly before swinging Mjolnir and shooting toward the royal palace at lightning speed.

At that very moment, King Laufey of the Frost Giants and two of his subordinates had already infiltrated Odin's resting chamber.

Queen Frigga, dressed casually and unarmed, never imagined enemies could breach the heart of the palace. With no time to prepare, she was forced to confront them, armed only with a hastily enchanted Asgardian sword.

A trail of frost seeped through the cracks of the great door, creeping up its surface and corroding every magical rune carved upon it.

With a crash, one of Laufey's lackeys kicked the doors open. Frigga raised her sword and barred their path."This is not a place for you to enter!"

"But we're already here," Laufey said with a cold sneer, waving his hand for his men to attack.

Born of the Vanir, Frigga was not skilled in swordsmanship. Even with her weapon enchanted, she struggled to parry the frost-forged blades of the giants.

They pressed in close, forcing Frigga back step by step, their icy weapons cutting deep and leaving wounds across her body.

When Frigga lifted her sword to block again, pain from her wounds threw off her movements. One Frost Giant seized the fleeting opening and plunged his icy dagger into her abdomen.

Perhaps the fight had seemed too easy, or perhaps he believed his foe was finished—either way, the Frost Giant let down his guard.

Swish!

A flash of light pierced through his back and heart.

Though Frigga lacked skill with the blade, she was a master of sorcery—Loki himself had learned most of his magic from her. To underestimate a mage of her caliber was to invite death.

Her brilliant counterattack enraged Laufey. He had no patience to waste time—he wanted to kill Odin himself.

Laufey stepped forward, and within moments, he easily overpowered Frigga. Though once defeated by Odin, the Frost Giant King's might was still formidable.

Standing over the unconscious All-Father, Laufey raised his icy blade and spoke slowly:"I've heard that even in your Odinsleep, you can still see and hear. I hope that's true—so that you'll know the one who killed you… is me, Laufey!"

But before his blade could fall, a spear struck him squarely in the back—Gungnir.

"So, the one who killed you," came Loki's voice, cold and mocking, "is Loki Odinson!"

As Laufey staggered, Loki thrust Gungnir again, killing another Frost Giant in a single stroke.

Bleeding out, Laufey glared with bloodshot eyes and rasped,"I… am… your… father…"

Laufey's words hit Loki like a curse. To Loki, his Frost Giant blood was a stain—a source of deep shame. Laufey's claim tore at that wound, ripping away Loki's final restraint.

The ever-elegant trickster suddenly erupted in fury, Gungnir trembling in his grip as if whispering, "Finish it."

"Die!" Loki roared, driving the spear through Laufey and obliterating him completely.

As Laufey's body disintegrated, Loki felt a strange sense of relief—a dark satisfaction curling into a smile. But the feeling didn't last long. Thor's sudden arrival shattered it.

"Loki! You're finished!" Thor's voice thundered as he glared at his brother like an enraged lion.

"You're mistaken, Thor. I haven't done anything—" Loki began, only to suddenly swing Gungnir and strike Thor by surprise.

The blow sent Thor crashing through walls before finally halting, while Loki seized the opportunity to flee toward the Rainbow Bridge.

He had no time to waste—the most important part of his plan was still unfinished.

At the Bifröst's control platform, Loki thrust Gungnir into the pedestal, aligning the bridge's beam directly toward Jotunheim.

At full power, the Rainbow Bridge had become a planet-killing weapon, tearing the realm apart wherever its light struck.

A manic smile spread across Loki's face."Die! All of you, die!"

Boom!

Mjolnir smashed into Loki, knocking him to the ground before flying back into Thor's hand.

"Are you insane? You'll destroy all of Jotunheim!" Thor shouted, fury and disbelief mixing in his voice.

Loki staggered to his feet, sneering as he leveled Gungnir at Thor."Insane? I'm protecting Asgard! What right do you have to lecture me? When you invaded Jotunheim, did you show them mercy? And now you play the hero?"

"Hopeless!" Thor bellowed and charged.

Unable to fully control Gungnir, Loki was quickly overpowered. Even as he lay battered on the ground, he laughed through bloodied lips."So what if you beat me? I've already won! Jotunheim is finished! Hahahaha!"

But Jotunheim wasn't only home to Laufey's army—it was also filled with innocent civilians.

Now a true hero, Thor could not ignore their fate. Taking a deep breath, he raised Mjolnir high."I'm sorry, Jane. I'm breaking our promise."

Bang!Bang!Bang!

Thor's hammer crashed repeatedly into the Rainbow Bridge, cracking its divine structure.

Watching the destruction, Loki's expression twisted in rage."What are you doing?! Stop! If you do this—you'll never see that woman again!"

But it was too late. The Bifröst shattered with a deafening explosion, engulfing both brothers in light as a massive space vortex opened beneath them.

At the brink of the abyss, a newly awakened Odin grabbed Thor's hand. Between the father and son, only Gungnir remained separating Thor and Loki.

"Father! I could have done it! I did it for you—for Asgard!" Loki cried, his eyes red with emotion.

Perhaps he was telling the truth. Perhaps not. Even Loki himself might not have known for sure.

But whether true or false, Odin could not accept what his son had done.

Defeated and despairing, Loki let go of Gungnir and fell into the endless void.

"No!" Thor screamed, reaching out, but his hand grasped only air.

Though Zed couldn't see Asgard from Earth, he already knew exactly what had transpired. Loki's fall into the cosmic vortex would soon lead him to the Mad Titan, and the great battle of The Avengers was drawing near.

Time was not yet critical for Zed, but it was far from abundant.

His approach remained steady and methodical—just as he'd chosen not to accompany Thor to Asgard.

Odin, though aged, could still wield Gungnir and burn his life force for a few devastating battles. An old lion was most dangerous when cornered. This was not the time to make a move against him.

"Mr. Zed, the Director wishes to speak with you," Coulson said, holding out a tablet.

Snapped from his thoughts, Zed glanced down at the screen where Nick Fury's one-eyed stare glared back."What now?" Zed asked flatly.

Fury's expression darkened, but he quickly reined in his irritation. In a cold, level tone, he said,"So what, you think that because you can see the future, you can do whatever you want?"

"Exactly," Zed replied matter-of-factly. "Knowing the future does mean I can do whatever I want."

Fury's jaw tightened. "Do you realize the statements you made earlier have already reached the World Security Council?"

"Which statement?"

"The one about war."

"Oh."

"Do you understand how much chaos you've caused?"

Zed's eyes narrowed. "Chaos? Explain."

Before the Avengers Initiative was fully established, Fury had to maintain a delicate balance between global powers—and Zed's remarks had severely shaken that fragile equilibrium.

To the Council, sacrificing a few lives for "world peace" was nothing unusual. But to Zed, anyone outside his circle of allies was irrelevant. If war broke out between Earth and Asgard, he would protect no one—not even the Council members.

That was something the Council could neither accept nor admit.

Fury laid out the situation succinctly. Zed listened in silence, then finally spoke with calm finality:

"Without conflict, there can be no evolution. Those too weak to face it have only one fate—death."

He leaned closer to the tablet, his eyes meeting Fury's through the screen.

Realizing this was the first time Zed had spoken his true convictions, Fury responded earnestly:"Such a brutal philosophy will never be accepted by this world."

Zed's tone was cold but resolute."You and your institutions represent nothing but your own fragile ideals. The world doesn't move according to your will.

Whether you like it or not, the weak will perish—and the strong will evolve into higher beings."

Fury squinted. "And what about you?"

"I am the strong," Zed said with unshakable confidence.

Beside him, Woz's eyes lit up with near-fanatical admiration."As expected of my Demon King! You shall continue to evolve—forever!"

Zed gave him a nod of approval. "Well said, my first vassal. Your understanding is exceptional."

"Thank you, my lord!" Woz replied, trembling with joy.

Zed turned away, unwilling to waste another word on Fury. With Skye, Lilith, and Woz, he stepped aboard the Time Demon Machine.

After the transmission ended, Fury stared at the blank screen and muttered to himself,

"The Avengers Initiative… has begun."
