Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Navril: Is there anything else you want to ask?

Navia looked down, helpless: "Sigh... You still lack common sense, Mr. Neuvillette."

After saying that, Navia asked Neuvillette again: "So... why did you come?"

Neuvillette slowly said: "Hmm... Since that day, I have been thinking, constantly thinking... what exactly is justice. I once refused to believe that for humans, there could be anything more important than life."

"Rather, I didn't believe that humans, as a species, could resist instinct, resist the rules of biology, and value certain things more than their own lives."

"This is also why I didn't stop your father from entering the dueling arena back then. I believed that a truly innocent person would never abandon his life like that. Nothing is more important than existing in this world. It should have been so."

As he spoke, Neuvillette looked at Navia's father's grave again and said: "However, Mr. Callas has thoroughly disproved me. Without his sacrifice, the Damselette serial disappearance case would still be unsolved to this day."

Indeed, Alex also nodded secretly beside him. This Mr. Callas played a crucial role in this case. Without his contribution, Vacher could not have been caught at all.

Neuvillette: "Mr. Callas made such a choice for his loved ones, for those around him, and for those who were completely unrelated to him."

"But now, it seems all of this can be seen as 'for justice.' justice that is higher than life itself!"

Neuvillette looked at Navia again and said to her: "So you ask me why I came. I just want to say sorry to Mr. Callas... I should have noticed all of this sooner."

Neuvillette's tone became even heavier: "I am sad about this, and I cannot let it go. That high and mighty position in the Opera House really does obscure many things. You all have worked hard all this time, members of the Spina di Rosula."

Navia lowered her head, a little embarrassed: "Ah, well, I'm sorry for losing my temper with you earlier."

"Ah, you're that type, uh, cold on the surface, but thinking a lot underneath, right? A bit like my subordinate, Silver."

Neuvillette said: "I'm sorry, I'm not very good at expressing myself."

"I told you, don't apologize..."

Then, the two fell silent, turning to look at Mr. Callas's grave.

After the three of them had finished sweeping the grave, the rainy weather suddenly cleared, and the warm orange sunset cast its glow upon the land.

They went their separate ways, leaving Navia alone, silently lingering before the grave.

Looking at Neuvillette in the distance on the hillside, Alex slowly walked over.

"Oh, you're here. Did Miss Navia invite you to sweep the grave?"

Alex nodded without denying: "Yes, after sending you off, I returned to Fontaine, and unexpectedly ran into Navia not long after, so I followed along."

Neuvillette asked: "I see. Is there something you need from me then?"

Alex, on the other hand, fell into thought. He had just casually come over to offer condolences, but speaking of this: "Indeed, it's rare to meet you; you're truly very busy usually. I have a few questions about what comes next that I'm unsure about."

"But it doesn't matter, after all, as an outsider, you assisted Fontaine in solving such a major case. I should repay you." Neuvillette nodded and spread his hands, agreeing to Alex's request.

"Regarding the primordial sea water... I still don't understand..." Especially why Fontainians Melt upon touching it. Alex frowned, he only knew half of the Fontaine storyline. Having to explore the other half himself was quite frustrating.

"I must say, this name actually has no problem. Vacher's organization probably conducted very detailed investigations to understand this concept."

"There was once a special sea on this planet, and the quality of its water was different from the oceans we see today. It was equivalent to it nurturing many lives on this planet."

Alex nodded knowingly: "So that's why it has that name. Primordial Sea... Hmm, it's quite fitting."

"And now, the Primordial Sea no longer exists on the surface of the planet... What Vacher and his group discovered must be an anomaly, or some remnants from ancient times."

"I see, but, Neuvillette, why do only Fontainians dissolve in that kind of seawater?" Alex, who hadn't paid much attention to the plot, finally understood a little. But there was still the most important point to ask.

"The Primordial Sea, which should create life and give birth to life, why would it turn around and devour life? This actually doesn't conform to common sense in my understanding. There must be some special secret about Fontainians."

Neuvillette indicated that this question was finished: "Anything else you want to ask?"

Goodness, Neuvillette at this stage doesn't even know, that's bad.

Alex thought for a moment, recalling Furina, whom he cared about: "Regarding the prophecy circulating in Fontaine... is there any more accurate information?"

Neuvillette stroked his chin and pondered: "The sea will rise, people will dissolve in the sea, only Furina will be left crying. Only then will the sins of Fontainians be washed away. Is that roughly the prophecy you're referring to?"

"Yes, that's it." Alex nodded repeatedly.

"As of now, I believe it's time to seriously confront this prophecy. There are rumors that the origin of this prophecy is a statement left by Fontaine's previous Hydro Archon."

"The previous Hydro Archon... Egeria?" Alex said, a name he was somewhat familiar with. The Amrita Pool... Neuvillette nodded and then said: "Now the sea is rising. Fontainians will dissolve. Two pieces of information have already come true, so we do need to be vigilant and observe if there are any other signs. Speaking of which..."

"Furina has always taken this prophecy very seriously, even collecting intelligence from all over Teyvat for it. If the rumors are true, this is probably a challenge left by the previous Hydro Archon for Furina."

"Mm-hmm, I see, so Furina is currently troubled by this and running all over the world looking for information...?" Alex nodded, recalling how busy Furina had been these past few days, even ignoring him.

"Anything else you want to ask?" Neuvillette said.

Alex shook his head: "Nothing for now."

"Alright, it's been an honor to answer some of your doubts. I enjoy our conversations. I'll enjoy the tranquility here a little longer, then I'll return to the Palais Mermonia." Neuvillette said to Alex.

"Then I'll stay with you a little longer too. We can teleport back to the Palais Mermonia together later..." Alex said, using his Combat Skill, holding his summon, and taking a few more glances at Navia in the distance.

"..." Neuvillette remained silent, tacitly allowing Alex's actions. Alex's ability to allow others to use the Teleport Waypoint would indeed make things much more convenient for him.
