A devastating storm of metal and flames engulfed the barren lands, as the furious blast ravaged the tide of trolls, killing them en masse.
Right before the shockwave could catch up to his allies, Roy teleported Alpha and Richard back into the outpost. Though small, the building withstood the raging onslaught of metal and flames — but the same couldn't be said for the steel rampart.
Both the steel fence, the embedded tower, and the turret were swept away in the storm. Roy's heart ached as he saw his Justice Points washed away in one motion.
Richard and Alpha stared at the furious waves in awe. Even Roy's expression was grim. How the hell is that a grenade? It's a freaking nuke!
If he had known the grenade packed such a punch, he wouldn't have dared use it. Thinking of this, he wondered: if a rare‑item grenade was this potent, then how about the rare‑item missile he saw listed in the shop?
His hands itched to try it out, but one thing was certain — he couldn't test it here.
The storm raged for a few minutes before receding, leaving a sight of endless blackened earth across the horizon. And even despite the explosion, drop items glistened underneath the moonlight, remaining unharmed.
A notification popped up in his view.
[Congratulations! Quest: Clear Beast Horde has been completed!]
Seeing the notification, he beamed, rubbing his hands together greedily as he asked the system for rewards…
[Rewards: 1000 gacha tokens. 100,000 JP. 70 recruitment tokens…]
Roy blinked, his expression strange as he questioned the system. "I thought you said the gacha tokens didn't come easily? And what was all that about me not being a gambling addict…"
[Host has to be aware most featured weapons can only be accessed by the gacha section…]
[And Host was never told gaining the gacha tokens would not be easy. I merely clarified that you couldn't purchase them with Justice Points, due to gambling not being the jurisdiction of Host's order.]
Roy nodded in understanding as he glanced at his rewards once more with excitement. With all this, he could grow his territory, subordinates, and strength further.
Glancing behind at his two subordinates, Roy immediately noticed Richard's pale exterior as perspiration soaked his attire. He was obviously strained.
System, is there anything I can do to help a non‑combat subordinate? he asked in concern.
[Host is in luck. Of the five exclusive item pack editions, one of them is perfectly useful for this very situation… Host just has to make sure the said subordinate is still at level 0.]
Roy nodded. It seems the item drops outside will have to wait a while longer, he sighed.
Reveal gacha packs.
Suddenly, a series of colorful banners came into view — five of them to be exact. Of the five, three were weapons and the other two were something else.
[Exclusive Subordinate Enhancement Pack: Legendary Edition!] [Exclusive Territory Enhancement Pack: Legendary Edition!]
These were the two other gacha banners. He quickly clicked on the Subordinate Enhancement Pack. A screen depicting a mysterious ancient bronze scroll appeared — definitely the featured item of this draw. Like the first, a 3% draw rate was mentioned at the edge of the banner.
System, how much to boost the draw rate?
[1% probability increase costs 100 JP]
Roy's eyes twitched. Isn't this daylight robbery? To increase by ten percent would cost a staggering 1000 JP! Fifty percent would cost 5000 JP!
[Host should be aware the pricing is so because of the featured pack rank! This is a Legendary Pack! Naturally, the percentage boost will be expensive…]
This explanation didn't make him feel any better, but seeing Richard's figure from the corner of his eye, he gritted his teeth. It was just a few thousand points — compared to his subordinate, it was nothing. And so, with an aching heart, he swapped a total of 5000 JP to redeem a 50% probability.
Making it a total of 53%. At least with this, getting the pull on time would be easier, right?
Burn ten tokens…
[Beginning random pull…]
Suddenly, a familiar sight ensued as ten metal boxes swirled into view as the screen flickered…
[Tap to unlock…]
His finger moved quickly, tapping them all in succession.
The virtual metal boxes rattled violently as they burst open one after the other…
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Regular item: Rugged Buggy!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Rare item: Police Radio!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Rare item: Illuminating Torch!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Epic item: Demon Restraining Handcuffs!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Epic item: Dragon Scaled Tactical Vest!]

[Congratulations! Host has acquired Regular item: Premium Leather Holster!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Regular item: Energy Bites!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Regular item: Infinite Vegetable Sandwich Pack!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Epic item: Thunder Qilin Taser!]
Looking at the loot, Roy didn't know whether to be angry or excited. On one hand, he got three epic items in this draw, and after experiencing the overpowered features of the Crystal Crimson Drake M16, he was excited to get three more items of that level.
On the other hand, he had spent 5000 JP to boost the probability rate to 50%, and even after ten draws he didn't claim the featured item…
With a dark expression and trembling fingers, he burned through another 5 tokens.
[Beginning random pull…]
The usual sight of metal boxes bloomed as he tapped through them. This time his luck seemed even worse, as all his draws were regular items.
His frown deepened. Was this a scam? This was one of the reasons he hated slots!
This time, furious, he burned through 20 tokens as the metal boxes appeared once more.
As he clicked, a mix of regular and rare items were received. System, what's the meaning of this? he questioned furiously, unable to condone any more of this. How the hell is this a 53% probability?
[Host has to understand, in a single featured item pack, thousands of items reside. Having even a 90% probability wouldn't guarantee that the item would be drawn after a few pulls…]
Frustrated, he wondered what type of reasoning this was. Why the hell is enhancing a probability even an option then?
[Without boosting probability, the chances of acquiring items would be slimmer…]
With a resigned expression, he burned another 5 tokens.
And this time was even more infuriating than the last, as the first three draws were invalid slots. Just as he was about to explode in rancor, the following two draws calmed him.
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Epic item: Void Breaking Baton!]
[Congratulations! Host has acquired Featured item: Legendary Subordinate Divine Evolution Scroll!]
"It was about time…"
