The afternoon still carried the calm breath of morning—cold, a little chilly, yet soothing in its own quiet rhythm. Faint echoes of cars, the chattering tricycles, and the sharp honks of trucks from distant roads laced the air, proof that today was a busy weekday. The morning light was retreating, bowing for afternoon to fully take its stage.

People's lives moved in their own directions, wheels of the city spinning endlessly. But here was Kairen—stuck, dragged into another moment he had never asked for.

A paid and hated tag-along.

He pushed the glass door open and stepped outside. The air brushed past him lightly, teasing his hair. The mid-afternoon sun, kissed the sharp lines of his face, painting warmth where it pleased.

"Wish it could just continue to be like this," he murmured, eyes closed, arms stretched a little as though to embrace the moment.

"Kairen."

That familiar voice called from behind.
