Chapter 23 - Chapter 22: Where will things go?

I followed behind Vu Hy. Looking at his back, I suddenly felt... unfamiliar.

He was no longer the Vu Hy of the past. He always smiled, warm, and was happy to see. Now, he was cold, his face expressionless as if he had turned into a completely different person.

I stopped, frowned and called out:

"Hy Hy… you were never the cold and indifferent type of person. Why have you become like this now?"

Vu Hy stopped. He turned his head, looking at me for a long time with an unfathomable gaze. Then he lowered his eyes, his voice indifferent:

"Oh… do you want to know the reason?"

I immediately replied:

"Yes."

Hearing that, he sighed, grabbed my wrist and pulled me away:

"Go somewhere else. It's not convenient here."

The hallway now had only the two of us, our footsteps echoing evenly in the quiet air.

Vu Hy led me to the storage room at the end of the hallway. I was a little surprised because today was the first day he came to school, how did he know this place?

Seeing my surprised face, Vu Hy laughed and teased:

"Are you surprised?"

I turned away, pouting and arguing softly:

"No. Don't guess randomly."

Of course I didn't know… he had been here before, just not during the day.

After a while of arguing back and forth, Vu Hy suddenly stopped as if remembering his purpose. He coughed twice, leaned against the wall, and said in a perfunctory voice:

"Let's drop this. If you want to ask anything, just ask."

I frowned:

"Put that indifferent look away. It's annoying to look at."

He was a little stunned, then shrugged, and smiled lightly:

"Okay, okay."

His expression returned to normal, I exhaled and asked directly:

"Your mission… is related to that guy Lam Trach Van, right?"

"Um." It replied calmly.

"Is that guy so scary that he has to be so cold? I feel sorry for him."

It raised its eyebrows:

"If he's not cold, then why be gentle? My mission is to make him turn black."

I choked a little. It sounded reasonable. But I still said:

"But it's okay to take it slow… The way you're doing it now is a bit…"

My voice gradually became smaller.

This time, Vu Hy looked at me, his eyes deeper than usual. His voice also softened:

"But I don't have much time left. If I don't do it in time… before he turns black, the one who dies might be me."

I was stunned, thinking I had misheard. He also seemed to have just remembered that he had misspoken, and quickly turned away:

"In general… you just need to know that I have to complete the mission."

I called him by his name:

"Nhược Vũ Hy. What does 'time out' mean?"

He was startled when I called his full name. His eyes dodged, trying to deny:

"I… I said the wrong thing. Don't think too much."

I looked straight:

"You're lying. You still haven't gotten rid of this habit after all these years?"

His eyes suddenly flashed with something indescribable.

I turned away, my voice lowered:

"If you consider me a friend, then don't hide it anymore. I don't want to hear those lies."

He was silent for a moment then sighed:

"Okay… I'll tell you."

I turned back, holding my breath and waiting.

Vu Hy said slowly:

"My mission ends when Tram Da Uyen turns 18. If I haven't finished it by then… I will disappear forever. My real body in the real world will also die."

My face paled.

He quickly forced a smile, trying to reassure me:

"Don't think too much. For me, this mission… is as easy as eating candy."

I grabbed his shoulder and shook him hard:

"Why didn't you say it earlier?! If you didn't say it out loud, how long were you going to hide it from me?!"

He looked at me for a long time, like the first time he saw me shaking with anger. Then he laughed lightly:

"Ning Chuan… I'm fine. Really."

My nose was stinging.

He was always like that. Hiding everything. Suffering alone. Stupid as hell.

I scolded him. Finally, he gave in:

"Okay, okay. I won't hide it anymore. Promise."

When I calmed down, he asked:

"What about you? What was your mission? Did you finish it?"

I was still wiping away the remaining tears and replied:

"Appease the villain."

He asked, a little doubtfully:

"Your mission is related to… Lin Zeyun?" he asked, a little doubtfully.

I shook my head:

"No. Shen Yeyuan."

I was a little puzzled by his words.

The smile on his face suddenly disappeared. His expression changed dramatically.

"Huh? Say it again."

I said again. His face immediately turned pale.

"Hey… what's wrong with you?" I asked worriedly.

He didn't answer me, he just stared at me and suddenly called out:

"101, come out."

A tall young man stepped out… from thin air.

I was completely frozen.

101 smiled faintly, his eyes slightly provocative.

Wu Xi asked directly:

"How much time does he have left?"

101 sneered:

"Why should I say it? It's not part of my mission."

Wu Xi narrowed his eyes:

"I am your host."

101 smacked his lips, reluctantly replied, his eyes still looking at me:

"Half a year. When the family found Tram Da Uyen, his mission would end."

I froze, not understanding anything.

"Vu Hy… who is this guy?" I asked.

"It's my system. Don't worry." Vu Hy replied and waved his hand: "101, disappear."

101 disappeared as if he had never existed.

Vu Hy turned to me, his eyes deep and strange:

"Ninh Xuyen… what you know might just be the tip of the iceberg. Be careful. Even with people you think are trustworthy."

After saying that, he turned away but his shoulders were shaking.

I pulled him back and was surprised to see his eyes red.

After a moment of silence, he said very softly:

"Your time… is less than mine."

I was stunned. Too many things happening at once made my brain numb.

Vu Hy wiped away her tears and tried to smile:

"Go back to class. We'll talk about everything later."."

It walked ahead.

I ran after it and asked loudly:

"Vu Hy! What did those hidden words just now mean? You know what they mean, right?!"

It paused for a long time and then replied:

"I need to reconsider a few things…"

Then it turned to me, its eyes serious:

"If you get 600 points in the next exam, I will tell you everything."

I sighed. I didn't want to force it any further.

It patted my shoulder and smiled lightly:

"Don't be sad. You still have to make me happy."

I forced a smile along.

Little did I know… at that moment, Vu Hy had already started preparing everything to prolong my life.
