Chapter 15 - 14. A Scriptweaver's skill

"Don't worry, I think I'll come up with a way to briefly describe the story." Ethan replied thinking of a way to keep the abduction side of the story out of the description when the time comes.

"Well that happened out of the blue." Shawn walked in. "Prime, I didn't mean to..." Ethan's words were cut short as Shawn walked in front of him.

"Now that they know about it you must get stronger. Show them the reason why I chose you." Shawn whispered to Ethan.

"Yes, sir." Ethan said with a salute. "And I promised to tell you about that woman, right? I'll do that after you reach a certain rank." Shawn whispered to Ethan again.

" Prime, were you hiding his Lexicon away from us?" Captain Zephyr asked.

" Well, it had to be done actually." Shawn replied. "Ok then, let's start our training."

"Training ?!" Ethan shouted.

"Yes, you'll be training for these holidays until you return to school again. Actually, to tell you the truth, that grimlore's attack was supposed to be a test but it ended faster than I anticipated. I think I underestimated my acting lieutenant." Shawn said.

"So we have decided to start your training right away." Shawn said and made all the lieutenants sit down on the floor.

"We scriptweavers have a different way of gaining skills and becoming stronger from how the chronarchs gain skills and powers.

Chronarchs are what you would have become if you completed schooling normally. With the chronarchs, skills are gained from the books they read when they first awaken their lexicons but after precisely two years, they would have to buy the Dawn Chronicles which are advanced books and scrolls that have been extracted from the first lexicon to be created and modern Dawn Chronicles which are new findings some chronarchs and scriptweavers have created on their own.

By gaining more understanding they become stronger and gain skills that compliments their power whereas we the scriptweavers create our own skills from the understanding we have of the Dawn Chronicles.

But compared to chronarchs, we're able to make changes to skills we have created after we become stronger. Naturally, no chronarch has ever been stronger than a scriptweaver who is on the same level." Shawn explained.

"Before we began the training I forgot to do this. Have any of you introduced yourselves?" Shawn asked.

"No, Prime." All the lieutenants answered in chorus.

"That's good. Really good. This is what I expected. Now everyone stand up, for beginners, your punishment is a one hundred and fifty pushups. So let's begin." Shawn said with a wild grin on his face.

"Huh?" All the lieutenants shouted in shock but started their pushups immediately when they saw Shawn's expression changed from a smile to a serious look.

While they continued with their pushups Shawn explained more about the differences between scriptweavers and chronarchs until they were done.

"So now let's begin. There are four stages in weaving a skill..." Shawn started explaining.

"First is attuning to the Ethereal codes, second is defining the correct intent, third is weaving the logic threads and the last; the fourth stage is anchoring the skill in reality. Now let me explain the first stage; attuning to the Ethereal codes.

To be able to use the Ethereal codes you must go through rigorous training and understanding more about the lumaflux. Understanding more about the energy around you will give you more insight.

Remember the amount of lumaflux you can wield also affects how efficient your skill can be and you know, your skill defines your strength.

After understanding more about your lumaflux, you would start seeing the Ethereal codes in your Ethereal Nexus, your subconsciousness space.

These Ethereal codes flow like streams of symbols and shifting patterns. These Ethereal codes appear as threads pulsating with colours that correspond to different types of magic - red for destruction, blue is for logic that is basically your intellect skills or more like your creativity in this case, green is for growth, nature and healing, violet is for illusions or deceptions and shadow, white is for light, purity, or clarity there are more.

The second stage; defining your core intent. What the skill should do or ultimately the purpose of the skill. Every skill begins with an intent, a clear and focused desire that shapes the purpose of the skill. We Scriptweavers must articulate this intent as a Rune of Purpose, inscribed mentally or with enchanted tools. A poorly defined intent can lead to chaotic or dangerous outcomes. For example, a teleportation skill, the Rune of purpose may state, "teleport self to a known location without delay."

With stage three which is weaving the logic threads.Using tools of craft—such as enchanted quills, luminescent ink, or their bare hands—scriptweavers weave Logic Threads into a cohesive design.

In lieutenant Melwen's case, she may obtain the quill from her fire phoenix which also boosts the power of a skill. The logic threads are drawn from the Ethereal Code and represent the spell's structure.

Then we'll talk about binding runes; Scriptweavers inscribe Syntax Glyphs (magical symbols representing conditions, loops, and flows) to ensure the skill operates flawlessly.Knotting Complexities also play a good role in the skill weaving as advanced skills require intricate knots, where threads intersect to handle variables like distance, power, or resistance.

Then to the last stage; anchoring the skill to reality. The final stage involves anchoring the skill to the physical world. We Scriptweavers chant incantations or execute gestures to compile the spell, fusing it with the Weave of Worlds. During anchoring, the Weave will "push back" if there are logical inconsistencies, forcing the Scriptweaver to debug their design which is what we call the error feedback. So the skill will have to be refixed.

If successful, the skill materializes as a glowing sigil or effect, ready for use.

You must remember that creativity plays a bigger role in creating skills." Shawn finally completed his explanation.

"For today you can rest. We'll start the real training starting from tomorrow till your holiday break is over." Shawn announced.

"I'm really sorry for judging you without knowing your true potential." Ian said apologetically as he knelt in front of Ethan.

"Don't worry, let's just get together and work as a team." Ethan said and made Ian stand up.

"So shall we all properly introduce ourselves. I'm Captain Zephyr Gale of the Guardian class and my lieutenant is Ian Fletcher." Captain Zephyr said with laughter while holding Ian under his shoulders.

"I'm Captain Fiona Frostbane of the Warrior class and this is my lieutenant, Kestrel Vale." A lady with elegant features and a lovely presence also introduced herself with the blonde female lieutenant by her side.

"I'm Captain Mason Campbell of the Healer class and my lieutenant is Windale Carter." Captain Mason introduced himself with an average height boy with pitch black hair and strands of green hair running through, standing beside him.

Unfortunately, Melwen's captain wasn't around and so Melwen had to introduce herself but Shawn did it for her.

"This Lieutenant Melwen Flamehart of the Archer class. Well, her Captain has gone out on a mission so the introduction would be done later." Shawn said .

"Captain Althera Blackwood of the Mage class and my lieutenant is Tesa Lowe." A pale skin woman with raven-black hair that falls in sleek, straight layers with captivating deep gray eyes introduced herself with her lieutenant Tesa, a petite and willowy girl, with a gentle, elegant air.

"I'm Captain Paige Monroe of the Druid class with lieutenant Owen King as my deputy." An average height, fit and toned, with a casual, athletic stance, the woman introduced herself and her lieutenant Owen, a short and lean, with quick, precise movements and a focused expression.

"I'm Captain Northwell Stanton of the knight class with Halloway Kingsley as my lieutenant." A broad and sturdy man with short-cropped black hair and gray eyes that were sharp and calculating introduced himself. His face was clean-shaven, and he carried himself with confidence and determination. And his lieutenant Halloway, tall boy with a chiseled, angular face and dark hair neatly combed back. His piercing gray eyes gave him an intense look, and his posture was always straight, exuding authority.

"I'm Prime Protector, Shawn Clarke with my deputy Ethan Fen." Shawn concluded the introductions.

" You guys can socialise more. At least explore this city. It's going to be your last time." Shawn said with a wide grin.

"Has the Prime always been that way with you?" Kingsley asked out of nowhere as they walked through town.

"He is not always like that." Melwen replied.

"How do you know that?" Tesa asked.

"He is our homeroom teacher." Melwen said gesturing that Shawn was also Ethan's teacher.

"Huh?!" All the other lieutenants shouted in shock.

" He is actually not that scary." Melwen tried convincing them.

They all stopped at a zebra crossing till the light was green and then crossed the road. They walked past Scriptoria Aeterna as Melwen showed the other the school they attended.

"Your school is quite a huge one." Ian said with excitement.

"No wonder it's one of the top Lexicon schools in the world." Kestrel proclaimed.

They later visited a restaurant where they all ate together before going back to the base.
