Chapter 20 - Tang San, Let's Talk Tomorrow!

"Have you heard? Our Notting Academy's top dog isn't Xiao Chenyu anymore. It's a new work-study student, I think his name is... Cheng Xiao."

"Yeah, yeah, it's Cheng Xiao. Wait, wait, we shouldn't call him Cheng Xiao, we should call him Boss Cheng!"

"They say that at noon today, Boss Cheng, representing the work-study students, took down all the upperclassmen by himself. You know Liu Long and Ling Feng? They got wrecked!"

"Also, do you guys know what Boss Cheng said after he beat Xiao Chenyu?"

"What did he say?"

"I heard, just heard, you know, that Boss Cheng, after he beat Xiao Chenyu, didn't act like the boss. He even took Xiao Chenyu as his underling! Now, Xiao Chenyu is even calling himself Boss Cheng's number one follower."

"Damn, where did you hear this wild story? That's a bit much, isn't it?"

At the Notting Academy cafeteria on the second floor, Tang San sat in a corner by the window. He had just returned from Master's place. After all, he received a Soul Master subsidy that included Master's share. Moreover, going to Master's naturally meant a lesson in Martial Soul theory.

It was only late in the afternoon when Tang San, who had been hungry all day, finally ate his first meal. Now that he had money, his dinner was quite good, with both meat and vegetarian dishes, plus a bowl of soup.

Listening to the loud chatter of several senior students, Tang San, head down, ate his meal, filled with doubts. However, he didn't pay much attention. In his eyes, both Cheng Xiao and Xiao Chenyu were just children.

Cheng Xiao might be a bit precocious, but so what?

He had come to this world, not only with the guidance of a Martial Soul theory master, but also with unparalleled mastery of the Tang Sect's techniques. Furthermore, he had the Mysterious Heaven Skill, a powerful aid to cultivation.

Tang San believed that no matter what kind of genius he encountered, they would only be eclipsed, because he not only wanted to prove his teacher's Martial Soul theory to the world, but also to rebuild the Tang Sect in this different world.

He, Tang San, was a person of the Tang Sect in life, and a ghost of the Tang Sect in death. No matter what, he had to find ways to revive the Tang Sect's glory, even in this different world.

"Right now, I need to arm myself completely," Tang San thought inwardly as he drank the last of his soup. "I should go to the blacksmith shop to find a job so that I can have the materials to forge Tang Sect hidden weapons. With hidden weapons by my side, I won't be afraid even if I encounter danger."

When Cheng Xiao and Xiao Wu returned to the dorm, Wang Sheng and the others were already there. Judging from their animated expressions, they were clearly discussing something interesting.

"Cheng, Xiao, and Sister Xiao Wu, you're back," Wang Sheng greeted them immediately.

"Wang Sheng, what are you guys talking about? You all seem so happy," Cheng Xiao asked, puzzled.

Wang Sheng chuckled, "Cheng, you wouldn't believe it. After you and Sister Xiao Wu left, Xiao Chenyu was fighting to be your number one follower. Now, the whole academy knows he's your follower."

"What?" Cheng Xiao was taken aback. "Xiao Chenyu is trying to be my number one follower? Are you kidding me?"

Wang Sheng said proudly, "Isn't it all thanks to Cheng? Don't worry, Cheng, Xiao Chenyu is actually quite good at being a follower. He knew we work-study students had to clean the playground, and he didn't want you to be tired."

"He specifically arranged for the upperclassmen to take over all our work-study student duties. We not only don't have to work anymore, but we still get paid. It's all thanks to you, Cheng!"

"Thank you, Cheng!"

Wang Sheng's words had barely faded when the other work-study students from the Seventh Dorm immediately shouted with utmost sincerity.

"Alright, alright, stop calling me 'Boss Cheng'." Cheng Xiao waved his hand, a bit of a headache. "Wang Sheng, I remember I told you not to call me Boss Cheng, right?"

Wang Sheng looked embarrassed. "Cheng... Cheng Xiao, it's not up to me. Everyone just likes calling you that, I can't help it."

"Yeah, Boss Cheng, we're doing it voluntarily!"

As if to prove their loyalty, the work-study students from the Seventh Dorm spoke up again, each one sounding more devoted than the last.

"Forget it, just call me whatever you want." Cheng Xiao said helplessly. "But in the dorm from now on, either call me Cheng Xiao, or don't call me at all. Anyone who calls me Boss Cheng again, I'm giving them a hook, understand?"

"Understood! Boss Cheng!"

"You guys are something else." Looking at the work-study students deliberately calling him that, Cheng Xiao shook his head and walked directly to his bed. He planned to get his toiletries and wash up first, then go to sleep.

"By the way, Little Wu, why did you and Boss Cheng come back so late?" Wang Sheng suddenly asked.

Xiao Wu glanced at him, then at Cheng Xiao, who had already gone out to wash up. "Nothing much, just went with Cheng Xiao to get a Soul Master assessment."

"Soul Master assessment!" Wang Sheng exclaimed.

The Work-Study Students around them all showed envious expressions. However, they could only envy. The strength Cheng Xiao had displayed today had completely exceeded their expectations. It wasn't human; it was a god of war!

One person single-handedly challenged all the senior students, a feat that had never happened in the entire Notting Academy!

Moreover, the one who defeated the senior students was a Work-Study Student like them, which made the Work-Study Students incredibly happy.

Cheng Xiao's arrival meant they no longer had to endure others' strange looks, and all of this was because of Cheng Xiao, their Seventh Dorm's true boss!

"Alright Wang Sheng, I'm going to rest. I'm exhausted after accompanying him all day." Xiao Wu stretched, yawning, and went back to the bed they shared, falling into a deep sleep.

Wang Sheng scratched his head, not bothering Xiao Wu further. However, he still told the other Work-Study Students to keep their voices down, so as not to disturb Xiao Wu's sleep.

After washing up, Cheng Xiao saw Xiao Wu already asleep, wrapped in a blanket.

He shook his head helplessly and sat on the edge of the bed. Looking at Xiao Wu, who had taken over both beds that were pushed together, Cheng Xiao couldn't help but smile. He then reached out, put his arm around Xiao Wu's neck, and gently picked her up.

Xiao Wu was very light, and Cheng Xiao didn't have any trouble carrying her. After making space for himself to lie down, he carefully put Xiao Wu down again.

"Tang San, why are you back so late too?"

Just as he had settled Xiao Wu, Wang Sheng's voice suddenly rang out.

Cheng Xiao turned his head and saw Tang San walk in. Their eyes met immediately. Cheng Xiao nodded at him and then looked away.

Watching Cheng Xiao, who had turned away and gone to bed, Tang San was somewhat puzzled. They had been at odds in the afternoon, so why was Cheng Xiao's attitude different now?

However, Tang San didn't let his guard down. Only the two of them knew about what happened in the Hunting Soul Forest. He didn't know what Cheng Xiao was thinking, nor did he want to guess. After all, the situation had been urgent back then. If they hadn't left someone behind to stall for time, none of the three of them would have escaped.

It wasn't his fault that he chose to leave Cheng Xiao behind. It was just that Cheng Xiao would indeed have been a burden. Besides, Master was his teacher, Tang San's teacher, and he couldn't let him die there so easily.

As for himself, Tang San wouldn't put himself in danger.

"Cheng Xiao, if you have time, I'd like to spar with you," Tang San said, looking at Cheng Xiao, who had already laid down. He thought for a moment before speaking.

He had heard a lot about Cheng Xiao in the cafeteria. For some reason, he felt curious about Cheng Xiao, whom everyone was talking about. So, he wanted to spar with him and test his own combat abilities at the same time.

"Spar?" Cheng Xiao sat up and said lightly, "Of course."

Tang San's expression brightened. "Then we..."

"Tang San, let's talk about the sparring tomorrow. I'm a little sleepy now," Cheng Xiao interrupted Tang San before he could finish, yawning.

"Then... then that's fine," Tang San's face stiffened. "Then we'll do it tomorrow."

"We'll talk about it tomorrow, we'll talk about it tomorrow," Cheng Xiao waved his hand at Tang San, then lay back down and closed his eyes.

Seeing this, Tang San could only sigh helplessly. He didn't pay much attention to Cheng Xiao's behavior. Although it was a bit impolite to interrupt him, at least Cheng Xiao had agreed to the sparring, hadn't he?
