Chapter 22 - Chrysanthemum Douluo Investigates Tang San's Background

"It seems you've already guessed," Bibi Dong said, rising from the Pope's chair. Her tall and alluring figure moved with a light flash, appearing before Chrysanthemum Douluo Yueguan. Casually picking up the file, she continued, "His Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, he has innate full soul power, and his surname is Tang. Putting all this together, there's only one possibility."

"Your Majesty the Pope, I'll go and handle it right away," Chrysanthemum Douluo said. Having followed Bibi Dong for many years, he understood her meaning without further explanation.

"Yes, go quickly. Investigate Tang San's background thoroughly, and then return to report to me," Bibi Dong said calmly.

"Yes, Your Majesty the Pope." After respectfully responding, Chrysanthemum Douluo quickly left the Pope's Hall.

Watching Chrysanthemum Douluo depart, Bibi Dong returned to the Pope's chair, her eyes lowered, as if lost in thought.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

In the small woods behind Notting Academy, several crisp sounds slowly echoed.

A black figure was seen nimbly jumping between the tree trunks, the sound of snapping branches occasionally echoing beneath their feet.

The next moment, the figure gracefully stopped in front of a large tree. Then, he picked up a few pebbles from the ground and shot them at the tree using a unique method.

"Thud, thud, thud, thud!"

A series of muffled sounds rang out, and several holes immediately appeared on the surface of the tree. The pebbles, shot with such force, pierced straight through the trunk like bullets!

"Phew, to channel soul power into the pebbles to increase their power. I didn't expect it to actually work," Cheng Xiao said, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at the tree, which he had riddled with countless holes.

And just as Cheng Xiao was contentedly admiring his accomplishment, not far behind him, on a large, blue-green stone, a girl with a scorpion braid was listlessly swinging her legs, her red lips pouting in apparent dissatisfaction.

"This Cheng Xiao is too much. He promised to only practice for a morning, but it's already afternoon!" Xiao Wu pouted, then leaped lightly from the stone, heading towards the boy who was standing in front of the tree, grinning foolishly.

"I wonder when the short sword will be ready. I'm really looking forward to it," Cheng Xiao muttered softly, licking his dry lips.

"When you think of Sister Xiao Wu!"

Suddenly, a slightly angry voice came from behind. Cheng Xiao's body stiffened, and he turned around awkwardly.

Xiao Wu looked displeased, her hands pinching Cheng Xiao's neck as she clenched her teeth and shook him hard, "Look at the time! You promised only a morning!"

"Ah, sorry, sorry, I was too focused."

Cheng Xiao didn't stop Xiao Wu's actions, and smiled apologetically.

"Seriously, you actually made Sister Xiao Wu sit there and wait for you all day!" Xiao Wu released her hands and said resentfully, "I was even thinking you would take me to eat something delicious. Now it's all ruined, I'm full of anger."

"What should we do then?" Cheng Xiao leaned in close to Xiao Wu's face, gazing at her slightly flustered eyes because he was too close, and whispered, "I'll go back and take a shower, and then I'll treat you to something delicious, how about that?"

"Mmm..." Xiao Wu was startled by Cheng Xiao's actions. She didn't expect Cheng Xiao to get so close to her, and so quickly, and she agreed subconsciously.

"I knew you'd agree." Cheng Xiao smiled, reaching out to touch Xiao Wu's rabbit ears. "Thank you for being willing to train with me here, Xiao Wu."

With that, Cheng Xiao took Xiao Wu's hand and ran towards the dormitory.

Xiao Wu, whose hand was being held by Cheng Xiao, stared blankly at him. For some reason, she didn't pull her hand away, allowing him to hold it.

At the same time, Tang San, who had been stood up by Cheng Xiao for the day, arrived at the blacksmith's shop. He had originally planned to spar with Cheng Xiao first, but Cheng Xiao and Xiao Wu had run off early in the morning, and he hadn't even had a chance to speak.

He had thought Cheng Xiao and Xiao Wu would return soon, but he'd waited in the dormitory all morning without seeing them. With no other choice, he came to the blacksmith's shop to practice his forging skills, hoping to create more powerful Tang Sect Hidden Weapons in the future.

"Uncle, can I be an apprentice here?" Tang San asked the blacksmith, who was currently hammering iron.

Hearing this, the blacksmith had to stop his work, and looked at Tang San with annoyance. "Kid, you're too young. You're sure you're not here to make fun of me, wanting to be a blacksmith's apprentice?"

"Uncle, you misunderstand. My father is the blacksmith in the village, and I've been learning blacksmithing from him since I was a child. I shouldn't have any problem being an apprentice here," Tang San explained.

"Really?" Hearing this, the boss's expression softened. Looking at Tang San's patched-up clothes, he couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy. He said, "Alright, since you're willing to be an apprentice, then come. Our blacksmith shop is short-handed right now."

"By the way, you said you've been learning from your father since you were young. What did your father teach you?"

"Blacksmithing, forging, casting... I learned a bit of everything." Tang San thought for a moment and said, "Don't let my size fool you. I have plenty of strength. Forging ordinary pig iron is no problem at all."

"Then try it." Seeing that Tang San didn't seem to be joking, the boss picked up a forging hammer and handed it to Tang San. He said, "How about this? I'm busy with an order right now. You go and work on the pig iron that hasn't been hammered yet. If there's no problem, you can stay."

"Okay." Tang San replied and reached out to grasp the hammer handle. He then lifted the forging hammer and walked toward the furnace where the pig iron was placed.

Seeing this, the boss couldn't help but shake his head. Blacksmithing was a tough job. For a child this young to become an apprentice... what a difficult family life he must have had.

"Clang!"

With a loud clang, the forging hammer in Tang San's hand danced with impressive skill. He drew circles in the air, and the rhythmic tapping echoed throughout the blacksmith shop.

The other blacksmiths watched Tang San swinging the forging hammer with a huff, surprised. Could a child this small really forge iron?

After a while, the blacksmiths watching Tang San were dumbfounded. Some of the older, sharper blacksmiths had recognized Tang San's hammer technique.

"This... this kid actually knows the Raging Storm Hammer Technique!"

"Raging Storm Hammer Technique? What kind of hammer technique is that? Never heard of it."

"The so-called Raging Storm Hammer Technique uses leverage to apply force. It's a forging technique that uses continuous strikes to fully unleash one's own strength. It's said that this hammer technique has been lost for a long time, but who would have thought a child would use it."

Outside the blacksmith shop, a middle-aged man in a black robe passed by. He stared at Tang San, who was swinging the forging hammer inside the shop, a hint of satisfaction flashing in his eyes. Then, he quickly left.

Evening, Notting Academy, Dormitory Seven.

"Cheng Xiao, didn't we agree to spar today?" Tang San walked to Cheng Xiao's bed and asked in a low voice.

"Ah, sorry, Tang San." Cheng Xiao scratched his head. "My memory isn't the best, I forgot."

"Then, shall we spar tomorrow?" Tang San suggested.

"Hmm... Tomorrow probably won't work." Cheng Xiao thought for a moment, then waved his hand.

"Well, we'll spar whenever you're free then." Tang San sighed.

"Alright, we'll talk about it when I have time." Cheng Xiao said with a grin.

Hearing this, Tang San nodded and turned back to his bed.

Since Cheng Xiao didn't have time to spar, he could practice his forging skills at the blacksmith shop. He could also take some of the blacksmith shop's unwanted pig iron to make Hidden Weapons.

However, what intrigued Tang San was that the blacksmiths seemed to be forging something according to a blueprint. As a Hidden Weapons expert, this undoubtedly piqued his curiosity.

After all, he really wanted to know what kind of weapon would require half the blacksmith shop to forge it.
