Chapter 46 - Suppressants

Something was wrong.

The penthouse was freezing, the air conditioning blasted with dry wind that scraped his bare skin. 

He blinked at the ceiling. Underneath the cold, something else was saturating the air. It was Noah's scent. 

But this time it smelt sour and burnt. And Levi could tell it was a scent of distress.

He sat up, the sheets sliding off his chest. The cold bit deeper, but the scent pulled at him harder. 

He rolled out of bed and onto the marble floor following the scent. 

When he got to the study, he flinged the door open but met the alpha with his back on the floor. One arm flung out, and the other curled over his stomach. 

His chest rose and fell in shallow and uneven hitches. The shirt was damp with sweat that almost made it transparent.

Levi crouched beside him. He could feel the heat radiate off the alpha's body despite the freezing room. 

Noah's pulse fluttered weakly on his temple as he tried hard to swallow saliva. His lips were parted.
