As soon as the old man finished speaking, Nevaeh quickly grabbed his arm and explained softly, "No, Grandpa, he didn't bully me. I just had a dream about my Grandma last night, that's why I reacted this way."
She didn't want her grandfather to know what had really happened yesterday. He was getting older, and she didn't want to make him worry.
But the old man clearly didn't believe her.
His eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Really? You're not just covering for that brat, are you? No, I need to ask that little punk myself!"
Panicking, Nevaeh quickly held his arm tighter. "Really, Grandpa, he didn't bully me!"
The old man turned to Hussein, his eyes filled with doubt. Just last night, Hussein had called to say that the young couple had a fight.
He'd rushed over early in the morning, worried Cassius had mistreated Nevaeh.
But to his surprise, she denied everything. Knowing how kind and gentle she was only made him more uneasy.
