In that moment, Nevaeh had completely lost it. It had been days since her grandmother's death, and there were still no real answers. Now that she finally had a solid lead, he was asking her to just… wait?

How could she possibly wait?

"Let go of me!" she yelled, struggling against his grip.

Ever since she had joined the Bennett family, she had treated his grandfather like her own. She respected him, cared for him. She never, ever imagined he could be the monster who hurt her grandmother.

The very thought made it impossible for her to stay calm. She kept fighting, pushing against Cassius, who was desperately trying to hold her back. In the middle of their struggle, her hand accidentally slammed right into the wound on his arm.

Hearing his sharp, pained gasp, Nevaeh's movements froze instantly, her eyes flying to his with a flash of concern.
