Chapter 174 - Family Warmth

Samuel's immediate 'yes' took Nevaeh by surprise. She explained, "My bag is still at the Bennett estate. My grandmother's portrait is inside. Could you please get it for me?"

Samuel was a friend of Cassius, so it would be way easier for him to get it than for her to go back there herself. Plus, she was terrified of running into Cassius. She had no idea what she would do or say if he tried to stop her from leaving.

"Of course," Samuel replied without hesitation. "I'm going to the Bennett's tomorrow to change his bandages anyway. I'll get it for you then."

"Thank you, Dr. Samuel," Nevaeh said, her gratitude genuine.

If Samuel hadn't shown up today, she couldn't even imagine what would have happened to her.

"No need to be so formal," Samuel said with a gentle smile, sensing she was keeping him at a distance. "Could we… maybe not use such stiff titles?"

Nevaeh gave him a warm smile back and cheerfully said, "Okay… Cousin!"
