Nevaeh was taken aback. She had only just sent the divorce papers today, and yet Nancy already knew.
"How did you find out?"
"Finlay told me," Nancy explained. She had been planning to watch a movie with Finlay that evening when he got a call from Frank saying Cassius was completely drunk. After a bit of asking around, he'd learned about the divorce.
"What is going on with you two, Nevaeh? Where are you right now? Are you okay?"
Hearing that Cassius was drunk sent a jolt of surprise through Nevaeh. For one fleeting, foolish moment, she wondered if he was drinking because of her. But the thought vanished as quickly as it came. She knew her own worth, and she knew she couldn't possibly affect him that deeply.
"I'm fine," Nevaeh said, her voice flat.
Nancy still sounded deeply worried. "Nevaeh, Cassius is a really good guy. And I heard from Finlay that… he's actually developed real feelings for you."
