Knowing she couldn't stop her, Elizabeth had no choice but to give up, her expression turning stormy. "What do you want?"
Noreen's answer was swift and brutal.
Her hand shot out, and she slapped Elizabeth hard across the face, the sound cracking through the air and catching Elizabeth completely off guard.
The impact was sharp and stinging,leaving five bright red finger marks on Elizabeth's cheek almost instantly.
"You… you dare hit me!" Elizabeth gasped, her hand flying to her stinging face, utterly shocked by the sudden violence.
"Hitting you is just the beginning." After trading her own mother's life for her freedom, Noreen's voice had become cold and utterly merciless. Pure anger blazed in her eyes as she glared at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I came here to settle our accounts. We had a deal to take down Nevaeh together, but when things got dangerous, you abandoned me and saved your own skin."
