Chapter 50: You can Stay
(Isabella's POV)
"Really?" I asked Alex with a raised eyebrow.
"What did I do?" He asked me.
"I asked who it was at the door and you didn't even bother with answering."
"You didn't expect it was me right?" He asked with a smirk and I rolled my eyes in return.
He stood there with his usual ease. His hair was slightly mussed, and a faint line of fatigue shadowed his hazel eyes, the kind that made him look both untouchable and a little too human at the same time.
For a moment, neither of us said anything. The hallway light fell against his face, making his expression unreadable.
I finally said. "What are you doing here?"
He exhaled slowly, like he'd been holding his breath since before I opened the door. "You're alone."
It wasn't a question.
"Yvette went to see Michael," I said. "You didn't answer my question."
His gaze flicked past me into the room, before returning to me. "Are you going to let me in?"
