Chapter 51 : Close Enough
(Isabella's POV)
"Or…you can just stay and keep me company," I said, jokingly
The words left my mouth before I could think twice.
Alex froze in the doorway, one brow arching like I'd just offered him the world's most interesting challenge.
A slow grin stretched across his face, that infuriating, lazy smirk that always made me regret speaking first. "I always knew you liked me," he said, voice low and full of mock sincerity.
I blinked. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me." He leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms. "Finally admitting what we all knew."
"Oh please." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms too, trying to ignore the flutter in my chest. "In your dreams."
He tilted his head. "Wouldn't that be convenient for you? You'd be seeing me not just in real life but in your dreams also."
"I said in your dreams not in my dreams, Alex." I told him.
He shrugged like he didn't care. "Potato, potahto."
I scoffed, fighting a smile. "You're impossible."
