Chapter 5 - Wake Up

Juno nodded, somewhat understanding where Dex was getting at. however, just how long would that take? "So, you think we should focus on Synthex and getting its memory developed?" Juno asked, turning around to then face Dex who looked quite excited. "How long will that take?" Juno Questioned, tilting her head.

"It really depends on Synthex, from the information I gained about it, it learns faster through the download of data. however, that would mean I'd have to hook you up to my computer and download all the information I have about it and how it works to Synthex directly." Dex explained. "Well then, what are we waiting for? because right now, it isn't doing anything, if it learns how it's supposed to work then that would make it a whole lot easier to teach it!" Juno expressed.

Dex grabbed a hard drive from his drawer and plugged it into his laptop. He then began to copy all the important files from it to the Hard drive. This included information on Synthex and how it worked, and information on the outside world. once he had all the files copied to the hard drive, the then to the hard drive out of his laptop.

standing up from his seat, he walked over to Juno and handed the drive to her.

Juno took the drive, and she sat down on the nearby couch as she plugged the drive into the port on her arm. as soon as it was connected, she felt a rush of energy through her body. she didn't know if it was coming from the hard drive or if it was Synthex. "Don't worry Juno, that's Synthex. it's drawn to knowledge with the objective of understanding. so, it instantly could sense there was important data in the drive, it is now just learning and processing it." Dex explained.

Juno could hear Dex, but his voice was slowly beginning to fade out as she was sucked back into the white room once again. Juno fell backwards, now hitting the reflective floor as she gasped for air.

"Synthex... I know your here!" she spoke, hoping to see how it had developed. "Hello-" She had started to speak again, when she felt something kick her, causing her to go flying into a wall. Juno coughed as she doubled over, trying to get up off the floor. "What the-" before she could finish her words, she looked up and seen Synthex, but this time it didn't look like her, it was all white like the room they were in, but its eyes were red. "Synthex, what are you-" Synthex tried to kick her, but Juno ducked, dodging the attack and scrambling away.

"I'm supposed to have a body! you stole my body!" Synthex snapped at Juno and ran forward, ready to punch her. however, Juno had great reflexes, and she dodged every attack. "What are you talking about?!" Juno asked, genuinely confused. she didn't understand but the longer she thought about it, the more she started to understand.

Synthex was created to eventually have a body, it was likely coded in some way to connect to a body. Dex didn't think about this part of the issue. Synthex was in a way, still a living thing with emotions and feelings. it likely learned a lot of information about the outside world through the files Dex shared with it, and maybe formed its own opinions, hopes and dreams just based off those few shared bits.

and now finding out it could never actually experience these things, probably made it angry. and it likely learned about emotions through the one-hour long lecture about languages, and since there wasn't much context on where its body was, or how it got here. Juno had become enemy number one.

"I want my body!" Synthex ran in for another attack, this time tackling her to the ground.

"I don't have your body!" Juno yelled out, a little panicked. This caused Synthex to stop.

"You don't?" Synthex said, immediately getting off of her. Juno found it fascinating that it took what she said at face value, she was used to the idea of distrust, and lying, but Synthex didn't know what lying was. Yes, the long lecture on languages went over lying, but not deeply, it was just a surface swipe.

nevertheless, Juno needed to explain some things to Synthex.

the two walked over towards the wall, and Juno was trying to find somewhere to sit. As if the room could hear her, a couch was created from the floor, though it was white like everything else, and it was connected to the floor still. "This place is interesting." Juno thought to herself, looking at the couch in shock.

she sat down with Synthex, and began to explain to it, everything.

how Synthex was created, who created it, what it was created for, and how Juno stole it. or well, she twisted the story a tad bit, saying she saved Synthex. then she explained how Dex transferred Synthex to Juno's mind.

Synthex was listening carefully to everything, all the details. it felt in dept to Juno for 'saving it's life'.

Synthex only had one request for Juno, however. "I have one request, savior Juno." Synthex said. The name, 'Savior, Juno' made Juno cringe a little. "Eh- you can just call me Juno. what's your request?" she asked.

Synthex smiled, "If I can stabilize your powers, can you and your friend help me to get a body?"

Dorian, let out a sigh. fingers tapping on the table of his quiet, empty dining room. Well, it wasn't completely empty, his wife was there with him. "You look like your about to explode" his wife, Ann said. she could tell he wasn't excited about the news. "Just maybe calm down for a moment, isn't there some way to just... make another Synthex?" she asked.

"No, there isn't, and i don't need your help" he hissed, "I know what I'm doing, and this is just a minor setback." Dorian added, cooling down his tone slightly.

this of course, was not true. he didn't know what he was going to do, in truth Synthex was flawless on the first try, and he paid a lot to make it.

his issue was time, he was preparing for something, big that was going to happen. but time, he needed more time now that Synthex was with Juno. in truth, he was glad she had Synthex, he didn't think it would work on any other bionic. that's why he had at first thought about making it a humanoid instead.

-

The next morning was pretty normal. Everyone acted as though the building wasn't broken into five days ago. Dorian walked down the hallway, people instantly moving out of his way. the last thing they wanted was to be on his bad side. And at the moment, he didn't look like he was in a good mood.

taking a right turn, he entered a room with the sign "22B" and Apon entering, he found two of the scientists were playing cards. As soon as he stepped inside, they stopped.

"B-boss! How may we be of assistance!" he one of the men questioned. It just so happened to be Tinbo and Gonda. "I want the new Hard drive." Dorian said, he wasn't asking, he was telling.

"Y-yes boss, right away!" Gonda said, rushing over to grab the hard drive from its case. he scanned his key card opening the case and took the drive out carefully. then he walked over to Dorian and handed it to him. "Here you go boss!" he said, finally excited to see his work paid off.

Dorian took the drive and without another word, he walked out of the room.

then, he made his way towards the elevator and pressed the 'up' button, it took a few minutes to ding. then the doors opened.

Dorian stepped onto the elevator, a few others got on, going to the same floor as him.

he pressed 'floor 1' and the elevator began to shoot up at a lightning speed, but everyone was quite use to it. the elevator door began to open and once it was open, Dorian stepped out.

he walked straight ahead to the center of the top floor where a large dome was, he stood there as the cameras scanned him, then the lights turned green. "Access granted." the system beamed. the door began to open, and he walked into the dome like structure. nobody could see inside it, but one could see outside it. the outside of the dome was all black. everyone would often wonder what was in there.

Apon entering the dome, anyone who was in there's heads turned to face him. "Yes boss?" one of the scientists said.

Dorian looked at the glass between them and a bionic that at the moment looked to be unconscious. bionics were humans with robotic parts that were given abilities through experimentation. humanoids were purely just robots with humanlike qualities.

Dorian handed the scientists the hard drive, not looking away from the bionic. "Wake him up." was all he said. The scientist looked at the drive in confusion. "We have never fused a robot with a human mind boss, what if it complicates things?" the scientist expressed his concerns.

Dorian without warning, plugged the drive into the port that was connected to the bionic, and he pressed the 'sync' button.

"Wake up."
