Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Target plan

Chapter 16 Target plan

Follin took over speaking from Fiora.

"Let me explain this for a moment. What has happened to Fiora after reaching past level 26 is three things."

Follin took out a large blank poster and put it on a wall, writing down the three main points.

"First is the change from Awakened to Enlightened, nothing else in the system naming has changed. The second point is the system details being changed. No need for every detail as you will all see when you reach this point."

Follin didn't pause to take a breath and continued talking

"Then the third most important change is the formation of a mana core, that, very simply, just stores a big amount of mana. This does not change skills, mana expenditure or recovery as far as Fiora tested it, but hopefully when others on the expedition team advance will we know more."

Rohan felt that Follin was leaving a lot of stuff out of his explanation, and Fiora also didn't go in more detail. 'They had already planned this out" Rohan said to himself.

Follin moved on to the next subject.

"This new info changes the previous plans, we will now focus on establishing more contact between the other encampments while trying to increase everyone's level. Fiora's team will leave again tomorrow and will scout Duran's Cross… Why Duran's Cross? It's because the barrier is in a circle, and the exact central point is on Duran's Cross."

Everyone in Duran would know about Duran's Cross, it is the city's most famous skyscraper. It is centrally located in the city and almost a kilometer high, all the floors were reserved for government officials, luxury hotels and business deals.

The north, east and west canal would meet under Duran's Cross and flow into the south canal. This made Duran's Cross look like a weird pyramid, with four pillars standing on the edges close to the water crossing. These pillars would go almost straight up for a couple hundred meters before merging into one big tower right above the water. The top of the skyscraper had a massive cross, signifying an abstract pickaxe for the mining industry.

This was often the place for many official businesses and almost no one was allowed entry. It had eight total entrances with two on each pillar. These pillars were surrounded by a hectare of garden and entourage for the building.

"Rohan will join Fiora's team tomorrow while Ntombi will stay here. This was all for this moment, questions you can give to Amanda." Follin said as he stood up and left, whispering something to Fiora.

Fiora walked over to Rohan who was standing in a corner. "Fiora" she said in a very calm tone as she extended her hand as a greeting.

"Rohan" he answered as he shook her hand.

"Let's go the small meeting area where we can have a quick talk, I will introduce you to the other members of the team later" She headed over to a door in the side of the hall, behind which was a sort of relax space. More designed as unofficial meeting spot with a table and couple of chairs.

Fiora sat down and pulled the chair next to her, putting her feet on them. Rohan took a seat on the next chair.

"As you have heard you will join my team tomorrow for the scouting tomorrow. So how about you give me a quick introduction, just how you ended up here and what skills you have." Fiora started off talking but quickly handed the word over to Rohan.

Explaining his small background story and even smaller skillset he brought Fiora up to date. She didn't look impressed, but her expression didn't change often at all. She did ask a couple questions on his Fire infusion skill, but he wasn't sure what she was looking for. It sounded more like she wanted a person that could shoot fireballs instead of making object very warm.

But she wasn't turning him down so Rohan felt good that he had the opportunity to leave the underground shelter for the first time in a couple of days. Although he liked it, he did miss the outside air.

"Make sure you bring your own supplies with you, its important to carry your own weight in the team. We plan to be back in maximum three days. I will introduce you to the team tomorrow when we leave so be ready. And finally your skill has potential, just work on it and get it out of you hands, then you will be fine. You already made good improvements just keep it steady, we don't want another exploding Gary." Fiora answered back very serious but ending with a light chuckle.

Rohan wasn't sure what to think of what happened with exploding Gary but he for sure did not want to find out.

Making his way back he didn't come across anyone and went to the training hall. Trying to improve some more before he would leave as he still felt unprepared. Instead of his shortsword, he focused on the Fire Infusion.

Trying to instead of activate it in his hands he pushed the mana up in his arms, keeping his hands cold while heating and protecting his upper arm. It took him a few tries before he got it right. He kept on trying in the same manner, stimulating the mana away from his hands and into other parts of his body.

He did make sure to remove his clothes, he didn't want to melt through anything. Not that it had enough power to do so, but just in case.

'If I can control where I active the skill in my body I can use it more effectively' Rohan thought in his head as he started to literally activate the skill on his head. He did feel himself getting warmer, so he quickly stopped. Being scared of ending up like exploding Gary made him consider Fiora's warning and called it a night.
