I stared at the faces before me, faces I would recognise anywhere. Some looked like they'd aged a few years more than their current age. None of them deserved to be here but rehashing that statement wouldn't change a thing. The only way forward now is to find solutions to the current situation.
"Thank you all for agreeing to meet with me on such quick notice." A few members nodded and some hummed. That was enough for me; I didn't expect them to be full of excitement either.
"I know the last time we met like this, the ending hadn't been pleasant. I cannot guarantee that this meeting will end any differently, and this may be the only time we meet like this in a long time, and I'm not sure how long that will be." The emotions on some of the faces slowly began changing as I spoke.
