I matched into my office with Issah trying to catch up behind me. Nara's request before she ended the meeting with Mother had grated on my nerves. It wasn't so much the question she asked but her response after Mother had asked her what would happen if she were unable to see her parents before the ceremony.
"Well, I guess you have the resources to secure a new bride within the next four days. I'm sure you'll find a decent match for the monster you birthed."
Those were her words before she matched out like she was above everyone else in the room, not caring for the consequences of her actions.
The need to correct her had been strong and I'd almost stopped her from leaving the room but I had done a great deal controlling myself. It was too soon to have a repeat of what happened a few weeks ago. There was no need to be that extreme and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep my anger in check if I had prevented her from leaving and she decided to provoke me.
