Chapter 64 - THEIR DESPERATION

"You asked to see your parents?" Jodi asked, after I'd told her what happened at the meeting. "Is that possible? Do you think they'll really let you see them?"

I pondered the question for a few minutes before shaking my head. The veiling ceremony was only four days away, it seemed impossible. "I don't think so."

She frowned at my response. "You don't think so? Then when did you ask to see your parents if you know it's practically impossible for it to happen?"

"I don't think it is impossible for it to happen? If I had asked two weeks sooner, or perhaps a week sooner, they would've made provision to make it possible. However, given the number of days left before the veiling ceremony, I think it is practically impossible at the moment to see them," I replied with an explanation.

"Then why ask? Why didn't you ask for something else outright?"
