"Are you drinking?" Mother's condescending voice cut through the calm in the room as she walked through the door of my wine vault.
It no longer surprised me how she always thought to look for me here anytime I went missing in the palace. She has always thought of me as an alcoholic anyway.
"No, Mother. I am not," I replied, filling my glass with more wine.
She hissed as she stomped. "I can't believe you. How can you be drinking right now when we have a pressing issue at hand?" She snapped, moving to snatch the glass of wine out of my hand.
I caught her wrist before she could make contact with my glass, and I snarled dangerously low at her. "Make that mistake again, Mother and I will sever your limbs." If the seriousness in my voice wasn't enough indication of my anger then the storm behind my eyes was enough to tell her that I wasn't bluffing.
