Chapter 21 - Chapter 20.

Life out here in the north was difficult to say the least. I don't know how these northerners do it. These conditions are extremely harsh. I couldn't feel my shit on my body here. Luckily, I was almost to Medithia—about two hours out. I hope I have not come all this way for nothing… I would be furious! No… I shouldn't think like that. Hopefully, they will feed me and let me unfreeze myself by the fire. If not… it will be a long way home. That is, if I would even make it home…

A little while later, I reached the kingdom of Medithia. I rode up to the gates, as a guard stopped me and said, "State your business with Medithia, rider!"

"I come from the kingdom of Greengrass with business from King Titus to King Winters."

"Alright, very well then. Come on through. No funny business, sir!"

 "Got it!"

I took my horse over to the stables and made my way through the rustic kingdom. These people looked cold, sick, and weak, as I heard coughing and sniffles. They looked thin and thimble, like they barely eat. I heard the blacksmith nagging and clanging his hammer down onto either iron or steel. It wasn't very noisy here; there were a few sounds here and there, but other than that, it was relatively quiet and simple, I thought, as I traveled through the main street of the kingdom.

Finally, I reached the doors of the throne room, and as I opened them. King Roy was sitting on the wooden throne as I walked up to him. "Greetings, your majesty… I come from Greengrass, on behalf of King Titus, to ask for your aid in this war we are in against King Gunther of Aleria. He had the queen killed, your grace. What say you?"

"An abomination, that is! Send my regards to King Titus… to answer your question… I am sorry, but we will not fight in your war. King Gunther offered a deal to me already. If I get involved, he will slaughter my entire kingdom, as I watched. So, the answer is no, I'm afraid."

"Please, your grace! With our combined troops, I know we can win!"

"I am sorry, but we cannot do it, my boy, but please make yourself at home. Before heading back to your homeland, tell King Titus, I am truly sorry, and I would help if I could."

What a coward!! I thought, as I made my way to the dining chambers, to stress eat my pain away. I made the biggest plate of venison, fruits, and bread as I sat alone in front of the fireplace, stressing about what was to come for the future of Greengrass. Maybe we'll make it out of this in one piece, if we're lucky… maybe, this war will be the death of us all… I guess we will find out. If it is the end, at least we'll all be together, comrades fighting side by side in the everlasting glory of this battle against the odds.

 Together.

 Forever.
